On the Paekak' Hill maybe but last time I followed him on the Rimutakas, I passed him to avoid being dazzled by the shower of sparks...

I have noted the comments on the various threads and have to agree that the riding etiquette, by some on this ride, leaves much to be desired.

Yes, and in the past I recall a lead and TEC were assigned to mentor the slower and beginner riders.

Left home here at 5.50pm gutters dry, Duckpond - well good for the ducks misty rain. Got home at 6.50pm streets and gutters still dry.

Since when has the WNCR had a 'designated' ride leader? Not in the period I have attended anyway.... I have never seen anyone get miffed for being passed, Sells usually gets everyone on the hill and all those near the front just allow him to pass (boy the Bonny can corner!)

Thought we all do our own ride? Own pace, mind the slower guy as you pass him? Be carefull and always encourage safety...thats been the way I have experienced it anyway but I have only been on KB about 7 months or so

It usually just falls into two groups that naturally sort thier own order.......the slightly quicker riiders usually break away on River Road.
Never seen any indication of the cranage being described in the previous page, however i was not there that night so cant comment

Will be there tonigt, and expect the usual haggle over destination and the usual ride order sort to occur....see ya all there
Been doing this ride on a regular basis for the last 3 years and it has gone through changes like everything The main one came about when it was noted that someone need to take responsibility and be responsible for everyone

What was said back then was we would turn up at the duck pond, chew the fat with a few other bikers and if a biker rode off in one direction and a few others went the same way,it was not a organized ride

I suggest the name should be changed to the Wednesday meet at the duck pond

If someone puts up a event on the calendar they should become responsible to turn up and take control or delegate to someone they trust to organize a leader, tec and briefing.

I did this for 4x4 trips...got the permits...got the keys ...signed the papers...did the briefing....etc...etc.

I agree with what Stoney said and the only problem we have is when slow bikes go to the front and hold up the others

This has become one of the safest rides I go on these days.

Bugga. I turned up at the Duck Pond tonight at 6.26pm. I waited for 5 minutes and it seems that I must haved arrived too late. Hope the ride went well. I made an honest attempt but it seems I stuffed up my timing. Maybe next time.

You must have missed us be mere minutes.
    No ride tonight.
I turned up to find Buck Buck sitting there by himself. Then shortly after Lilly2W and Ukiwi turned up. That was it. So around 6.20 - 6.25 we decided home, lasagna and beer sounded like a better idea than a ride in the rain.

mmmm beer and lasagna do sound good. Good to know I didn't muck it up (actually skived off work and hour early to get home get my bike in time). Saw the rain had kicked in in Wellington, but it was rather pleasant in Upper Hutt. Not to worry, I had a nice wee ride on my own, did a bit of a ticky tour home. I'll try again next week (hopefully the weather is much better).

    Enjoy the booze and food!
