    3.5km each way.
    50 zone for 1k, 70 zone for 500m 100 for 2km, including a 600m bridge....
Takes 3 minutes at 7:20, but 10 at 7:30! EVERYBODY leaves just prior to 7:30 for a 7:45 start!!!!

Takes a constant 7 minutes flat on the push bike! (no need to wait for the traffic).

As for your proposed trip of 45km, that sounds ideal, and would be mush better utilisation for a motorcycle than the 3 minute run I give mine....
Okay, I do have a NS-1 that will be doing the duties from now on (as I got some really good rubber on the CBR, and don't want to waste it)

I forget how long my commute is - it's from Birkenhead to Albania, and takes from 12 to 20 minutes by bike, and a bit longer by car. It often takes longer coming home, because for some reason everyone seems to go to work at different times but goes home at around the same time.
Especially if it's raining, for some even weirder and more unfathomable reason...

I'm lucky though, in that both ways I travel, the bulk of the traffic is going the other way.
    It's great!
I love it when I'm doing 100km/h and look over the median and everyone's crawling along at 30km/h. Apart from the bikers sneaking between the mobile four-wheeled chicanery.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I commute from Manurewa to Glendene and back in Auckland. It's a trip of 37 km and generally takes 50 minutes because of the traffic and roadworks at the Onehunga flyover. Can be as short as 45 mins or as long as 60mins depending on traffic.

It sucks but that's how it has to be for now. I'd generally not want to commute for more than 30 mins.

Helensville to Albany Industrial Estate via Dairyflat, 35Km and about 25 minutes. A bit longer in the car (and a lot more expensive)

Sounds like you have a job offer on the Shore?

The moment I can actually feel any confidence in the sole of my left foot on the peg for any distance I will be bike I am still unable to take weight for any time on the ball of my foot, impossible to take any pressure on the arch of my foot. The bike foot peg comes right in the soft spot, I find it enough of a challenge to get on the back of Maha's bike for the now, I can not even begin to imagine taking all my weight and the lean angle of my bikes weight on the ball of my left foot, or even the flat of it for that matter. I have been completely undone by this poxy planter ligament injury, 6 weeks off crutches now, and while I walk well in expensive "proper" shoes complete with orthotic inserts, the normal footwear remains a distant dream. Girly shoes are out of the picture I love my heels I might be able to insert the orthotics in my boots though thinking on...hmmmmmm. Put it this way, soon as I can, I will.

I noticed that today. I left Albania at 5ish, seemed every other man and his mate did too

Close, but no banana, and this may or may not be related to a change of employment. I may even be teasing everyone

51kms each way - total 102km each day. Takes about an hour each way in traffic, sometimes 1 hour 15 mins. I have 20 minutes down a lovely curvey, narrow rural road, then the rest of it is highway, in peak hour traffic.

I happily do it either car or bike.

It was a long way at first, and seemed to take forever. But after a few months I got very used to it, now I don't even think about it (unless I'm running late, which is common). Now I actually enjoy the long distance, and its become a routine that is just a part of my working day.

I would mention that if you are going to taking a car, the cost becomes rather extreme. But on the bike of course, much cheaper. Thats one thing I hate about it, can't take the bike during the colder months of winter as we get black ice right down our road, and the car costs a furtune to keep filling up all that way (and its an echonomical car).

You will get used to it though, doesn't take long to get into the swing of it.

About 13km, 10 to 12 minutes. I refuse to time it because I got in to trouble once trying to beat my get to work time. During the 10 minute morning peak it may take me a minute longer, depending on what the queue is like at one particular intersection.

Shit. I know I am going to time myself in the morning now. You bastards.....

45km is a nice commute distance. On a bike. A car would do my head in.

EDIT - 14.7km, did it this morning in 11 minutes while getting held up at all three sets of signals so not a PB.

41km one way Raumati to Wellington 5 days a week

travel before the morning rush but often in the traffic in afternoon, average about 45mins.

Is usually the best two 45minute sessions of my day - southerly storms excepted.

Surely the commute should be relative to the paycheck or perhaps your enjoyment of the job?

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
