Violence is not the way to deal with the situation. If this behaviour is typical for this guy he may well be on probation or he could have other offences which with a conviction for assault and possession of a weapon could easily see him in prison.

I know some of you do not have faith in the judicial system but some of us know it can work. Let the police deal with it and hope that you get a judge that sees Rimutaka prison as a good place to send this guy. If someone carries a weapon like that in their vehicle it shows a clear intention to either cause or receive trouble at any stage. A very common MO for gang members too.
