If you hit a car on the rh side while it is turning right, then I take that the car was going in same direction. Bike passing a car and perhaps the next car in line is doing the turn? No idea, but we might find out.

I hope the rider and pillion will make full recovery.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

    Perhaps not so strange.
Maybe the motorcyclist was about to overtake two cars, not realising that the front most car was intending to turn right of the main highway. Purely speculation of course. I wasn't there.
But I've had this almost happen to me once, people indicating at the same time as making the move instead of a couple of seconds before.
Poor buggars, all those who were involved, including the car drivers.

I have had a close call in the past overtaking vehicle and finding it do a right turn..........not a nice experience at all.
sure makes you look at things differently when overtaking.

    hope they will be ok.

Just had a look at the crash site on google and there are a couple of scenarios. Had a play with some models in Visio,
However that's what Serious Crash get paid the big bucks for (figure of speech) determine with the full facts. Not my arm chair view of hypothesis.

There is plenty of weird shit happening out there when you ride. Cars stopped in the middle of a blind corner for a stray sheep - or to take a photo, someone doing a U-turn in the middle of a blind corner, someone turning right in front of you without signaling etc.

Take care on the road and keep alert people.

Nope. It's quite clearly against the law to overtake across an intersection, and this is why. Never overtake, split, filter etc across an intersection, even if that intersection is just a side-road on your left. You will eventually get bitten.

A lesson also for those turning right - always always always check your right mirror before committing to that turn, in case you get steamrollered from someone passing.

It's just plain inexperience, but I would have thought the old fella knew better than that.

And if said turning car is suddenly turning right to get to a vineyard, to go up someones drive or to stop at a picnic spot?

How does the motorcyclist prepare for that ya daft bugger..???

not often i agree with DB, but yeah passing where there is a sideroad or an intersection is something I avoid. Not saying this happened here and I are not gonna lay any blame or fault anywhere, just using the situation to promote discusion.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Typical Katman..........................you think you know you are so god damn right whenever there is thread about some unfortunate accident involving a biker, you have to be such a cock to criticise the rider at fault or accident was caused by the vechile at fault. No matter how good your theory on how we should ride our bikes. Accidents happen.....get over it man!!!!
One day (god forbid) if you are involve in a accident on your prissy Katanasaurus Rex, some people on here will tell you
...........................I told you so. Why dont you for once show some sort of compassion to the unfortunate biker involved in the accident, instead of preaching your point of view in relation to how we bikers should behave on our bikes.
Motorcycles are not the easiest machines to ride, even if you are as good as Valentino Rossi !!!!
Remember Katman when you spout how good your theory on how we should ride our bike safely.......what goes around comes around . One day..... you might not be so lucky, its called Karma
    I rest my case.

They usually slow down a bit first.
