    Crikey.

Do they not believe in stop signs and give way rules over there?

I will never forget the time out in Howick as I was cruising home to see an Asian woman changing lanes without indicating and with no lights on....

Love the one where the poor bastard standing in the road gets shunted, sunstrike my arse, their eyes are always closed

Not really mate. It's Chinese. Last time I was in Japan traffic conditions were generally choked, but very well ordered and predictable.

You tube 'Taiwan or Taipei Traffic' for true two wheeled chaos. I used to stand in awe.

Actually, no. In spite of the wee crash and burn compilation they’ve got one thing sorted that we don’t: The understanding that if someone CAN do something dodgy then they WILL.

Their driving habits are built on the understanding that if (for example) you leave a gap someone WILL go for it, and that if you obey what few rules there are then there WILL be gaps.

Given the traffic density it’s a revelation that having so few rules produces such little carnage. There’s a lesson there, somewhere.

Oh, and if it wasn’t evident anyone on a bicycle is a serf, and expendable.

I live in Christchurch. Believe me, Asian drivers are not the primary concern.
