Yeah! BIG DAY! Welcome my first bike ever - Honda VTR250

First big thank to gijoe1313 and DONOR for helping me to get my bike from Masterton on 24th Aug.
Although until now I haven't ride on it yet, but i think gijoe1313 really enjoyed it when he rode it up.
So now she is staying in my garage waiting for her crash knobs; light protector and rego plate holder.
Well since my last ride was last year March, i forget how to ride already

Have to ask gijoe1313 to teach me again

Congrats. We love our VTR250 too. She's had a few rests when she's got tired and no damage (just had to straighten the gear shifter... and yes replace a bent clutch lever) but no damage to frame or tank.

It's easy to forget how to ride. I commute every day and when it comes time to the odd weekend when I can make it out these days (plus shitty weather) - I have to remember how to corner all over again!

Thank you everyone that encourage me riding, it is bit heart itching that watching your bike standing in your garage but you couldn't ride it out

and the weather doesn't help neither

Well, please please sun shine come out on Sunday so I can practice on jijoe1313 little bike

Poor lil'ol'hornet, he is starting to get used to helping learners get out and about! Just as well I haven't restored him back to his pristine state that I first got him in yet!

Ah well, I'm sure Greentea shall remember him fondly when she blasts off on her VTR250!

Well Greentea did some practice again today - she was making good progress last year before she stopped riding.

The hiatus must have had something embed because it wasn't long before she was revving up her driveway on the lil'ol'hornet!

After several practice runs, she finally tried out her VTR250 and putt-putt that around.

Only one little scare where she started to head off to a fence.

Good lass managed to remember to pull in clutch and brake well. Jobs a good 'un!

Next time, on the road and getting the gear changing and road awareness up!

Thanks gijoe1313, very patientlt explained every thing all over again to me (from how to start a bike, where is the cluch,... forgot all of that

)I was on gijoe1313's little hornet first and then my dear VTR, well his hornet has high engine sound, like im going 100k, but brake is very smooth. My VTR is easy to start but brake is bit rough.
When I did practice little up hill riding on my own bike, throttle bit too much, felt like i was going over the fence, so i have to make brake, little wet on the ground after rain made bike swing, i was thinking"

damb im going to crach my new bike." but luckyly i stand still at the end

. but scared gijoe1313, haha.

but after that i change back to gijoe1313's hornet

Well next lesson will be next weekend hopefully i can still remember

Good you have an experienced rider / mentor to help you.

Just remember:
- Don't rush it - you have years to learn (I still have a lot to learn).
- Don't learn / try to ride when you are tired
- Keep your sessions short - you'll get tired quickly and make mistakes (eg. 1/2 an hour at a time)
- Just focus on learning one thing per lesson
- and don't beat yourself up for making mistakes. Good you recognise what they are for improving on them, but don't worry. We've all been there!
