North Island Series update...

Hi All, Given the numbers involved, especially when the racing gets to Auckland we will probably have to give priority on the grid to those that already have points on the board. This may be the fair way to do things and we can re-examine the concept for next year if the numbers joining the ranks continues to grow. What is really needed is qualifiying and timing systems but I haven't won the lottery yet! Feedback greatfully recieved....

dont you set the grid by who has the most points get pole and down from there ?

only fair way I see

Buckets
The Hawkes bay guys run the grid on a first in best dressed system.

Kel
NI series was a four round series run this year for the first time.
Round one Taumarunui, round two Kaitoke Easter meet, both been and gone

Round three is at Roys Hill (Hastings) 3rd October and round four is the Saturday before the 2 hour at Mt Welly in November. Hopefully it has been enough of a success this year to warrant a repeat performance. It's been worthwhile just as an excuse to ride different tracks and meet out of town bucketers in my opinion.

I second this, it has been great meeting other riders and trying a different track.
I am really looking forward to Roys hill.

But, I have pretty much ruled out Auckland due to the cost to get there and the number of bikes that get raced on a small track like that.

I can understand that. Not so much the cost but the logistics mean that if the Wellington round was run on anything other than a long weekend it would be a non starter for us.
Don't let the short track put you off, Taumarunui is a bit shorter if anything and we run qualifying if there are any more than 18 starters for a given class, any more than that and the first turn gets quite busy.

Yes we were doing it that way but increasing numbers and lack of track side assistants lead us back to first up best dressed at our club meetings. This said we are working on getting back into it as generally it is a good way of setting things up.

We may adopt as you say at the Hastings meeting and see how it goes.. mostly we related in our series to where you finished your last race.. so a bonus if you are a regular if nothing else.

actually I thought it used to be in the sticky headings but I could be wrong??? As Henk says it's just a series we started running this year with the hope we could get riding at a few places going with other riders to ride against.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like a great concept and series. Obviously Im a bit late for this season but I'll certainly be keen for next, that is if the bike and body hold together.

Yep, where you finish in the previous race is where you start in the next is the fair way to go. ie 1st,2nd,3rd start on the front row of the grid. That way, the race is not won or lost in the warm up lap getting to pole position and crashing on cold tyres trying to get there first.( No need to mention names)

Yes I think race to get to the front on the warm up is a bad idea ,also quick lads starting from the back means they would struggle ...Its a tricky one Qualifying would be the best but just too hard and not enough time in the day.

I remember a day when Karl Gary and I think Dave M all starten from the back and ended up in a pile 3 or 4 high because of the slow guys on the frount of the grid

not a good look
and having them try and carve threw 20 bikes before the first corner is not nice

Cheers Grant.Maybe its time for tyre warmers so we dont drop it with cold tyres.If we have the time and I think we have(narrow down the lunch time) we should do superpole to decide the starting grid.Like that the guys who should be in front are there and we are less likely to have a pile up on the first lap.

can you do the timing for the Superpole at the next meeting??
