Yes the fans/spectators have valid points also, but imagine how hard it is to siff through all the bollocks posts on here by Johnie NO names, that would tke an incredible anout of hours to do, and most of the comments would be bollocks anyway, from a lot of people that actually have NO idea what it takes to go racing seriously or just for fun.

I could be wrong, but hope NOT
I would say your pretty much on the money there Shaun.

Here's a new forum dedicated to the motorcycle racing community in NZ. It is focused on the issues surrounding racing in NZ and to join the forum's "Racing" section you have to qualify yourself as being directly involved in the scene. We are hoping to gain some traction with this site and become a good place for collective ideas to be shared and discussed without the prying eyes of the general public.

Motorcycle racing in NZ has a lot of growing that can be done and if we as racers have some sort of collective voice we may be able to assist in accelerating this new growth. Who knows where this will lead to but make sure you head along and sign up to be part of it.

    Biggles.
I just signed up but didn't have to "qualify myself". If the point is to only allow racers and not the public how do you mean to do this? Not nit picking, but trying to work out how Kiwiracer is different from the racer section on kiwibiker.

The easiest way for people to prove they are involved in racing is with a MNZ license...
thats all, you are still able to participate in the Racers Forum if you can somehow substantiate your "direct involvement" in the sport another way. The purpose of the forum / website is for the racing community all encompassing. There will be distributors involved in discussions on this site too as they often fund racers so by the aforementioned criteria ARE directly involved in the sport. Basically we are trying to filter out BS contributions by people who have no stake in our sport. We want to hear opinions of those who have some personal commitment to motorcycle racing and be a place where discussions can be relied upon as a "snap shot" of how we as racers feel about certain issues.

At this point in time it is open to make for quick registration and for people to see all the sections availiable so far. Soon you will need to have a password to see the racing section and you will need to apply for that password. The general section will still be availiable to everyone for good tho

    Hm,

    Odd ploy.

So the director of this new site, wants to have ONLY racers contribute to a forum.... Sounds odd, given that the general public are the ones that you all want to come to the meetings, and it seems that an open forum is the best way to reach them ( perhaps we could get a few volunteers to go door knocking for a survey)

Plonkers or not, there are valid reasons for including the general public in open forum discussion.

It is things like this ( having secret little discussions) that cement the idea in peoples mind that bike racers are nothing but egoistic knob jockies.

How does this convince people to come and watch, let alone part with their hard earned?

Do members get a PDF explaining the secret handshake, along with a Directors cut of "Brokeback Mountain" and a 2011 Honda Sales brochure?

Elitism got the sport where it is today, this just pushes it further.

Shaun, you cast a big shadow in the riders arena when it comes to bike racing in NZ, and, more power to you for it.

But I am alarmed that you champion this idea, as I understand it many non competitors supported you after your IOM accident, I thought you would encourage the or input.

You have completely missed the point of this forum SS90...its not designed to do any of what you have said. It is a place to discuss issues that ONLY relate to racers. A place where the general public do not have any concern with. Sites like KB here are great ways for anyone to voice their opinion on anyone or anything but it is also limited too. Many racers are too scared to say what they really want to because twats on public forums are there ready to pounce on people for standing out...just for standing out!?

You are correct with all your points above but have missed THE point of this forum...it is not designed to be a public forum...it is designed to discuss the mechanics of racing without the peripheral of other issues that can be highlighted on forums such as KB.

Well I for one am going to miss the interaction and the updates in the racing forum on here, if you all bugger off! Even the political stuff. It will for me take racing further away. You never know someone who has not been involved in Bike racing may still have some valid input. I did 48 Kart meetings in one year with my boy incl nationals (in Sth Island), NI's, Blossom etc etc. I don't post, I don't want to meddle in your business when I'm not road racing, but I am doing the odd 2man or T100 non MNZ enduro dirt events. I do read most of the racing threads when they pop up under the new threads list. I would guess there may be a few more like me on KB??
You guys must do what you think best for your sport. I'm just posting a perspective from outside the box here for you guys to contemplate??
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Is the Ducati on the hompage eligible to run in superbikes in New Zealand?

Marcus, you missed his point, if the racers only have there veiw it missus alot of the stuff you may need to consider, as reckless puts above, alot of poeple read here even if they are not racing,

there are alot of people with valid opinions, from racers, to organisers and club workers, to promotors, to distributors, to dealers who will sponsor and help out as well, i think to close ranks would be a bad idea imo,

Seems to me that plenty of slamming comes from other racers as well Marcus.

I have no plans to race in the near future but still like to keep upto date with whats going on, maybe have the section for viewing only unless "granted permission".
