My Shiver is waiting on three components ex-USA, only one of which is mechanically-enhancing. I won't be a starter this week but after that, I am most hopeful.

    most unhelpful acronym

it had always struck me as odd that TCWNR had no relation to the actual title until I realised that it was scrambled. And despite the self-explanatory title there is some suggestion that this is not in fact very cruisey at all. it's like a secret club where nothing is quite as it seems...

    Hey Rie -

To be honest, I went on a few of these last summer. I was on my 250, and it was a struggle to stay with the group. But it was a 250 cruiser, and I was only a learner too. Now that I have a grown up bike, I know these are going to be very enjoyable rides. Its a nice pace (the pace I wish I could have gone on my 250), and some really great people.

Basically, the week progresses like this...

Tuesday night rides are slow, for learners and smaller bikes etc.
Wednesday night rides up the pace substantially from there, but are defiantly in the middle of the rides as far as pace goes.
Thursday night rides are fast paced, and not for anyone who wants a quiet pootle.

Hope that helps. I can't wait for these Wednesday rides. Can't make the first few weeks, but its the first season when I have a bigger bike, and its going to be a ride I look forward to each week.

Usually everyone gets to the destination by around 7:30, with a stop half way (depending on where we go), and from there, you can take as much/little time as you want to get home.

As most of the riding takes place on the open road, slow bikes do lag behind. It is up to riders to let someone know if they are either unable to keep up an open road speed (of 100kph) or if they are still not fully confident with riding.

There is always someone there that will be more than willing to take people under their wing, or to stay behind the group. Do not expect everyone to mentor you and provide advise if you do not ask. Those that do not ask, do not get. I should be there most nights for the first couple of months, so if you would like some help just look for the big old red and white bike with bags, I am more than willing to help people out.

As I understand it, this was previously alot more of a cruisy learner friendly ride, until all the learners that were turning up got their full, and bigger bikes, and turned up for the ride. From there, not many learners were left, which meant that the rides turned into more of a social ride, where everyone agreed (or disagreed) on the destination, and set off at their own pace. As with any ride, one must ride your own ride.

Thanks, sounds cool. Not so sure I need mentoring though, been riding over 25 years, still, nice to know it's available should some need it

I will 100% back this up - I was most persisstant in turning up on my slow bike last summer, and everytime there was someone who stayed with me, and followed me on the rides and kept with me - offering much support. It was always much appreciated too. Bloody good bunch I tell ya!

As much as I like the idea of getting back into summer riding the weather forecast doesn't look too good for the first cruisy ride of the season.
    Here for the ride.

    It goes something like this.
Arrive at Featherstone a little hungry. Order beer and small fries, which turns out to be more than you can eat so you give half away.
Back to the Parrot/Station and steak/pasta/burger/apple-crumble/ice-cream.
Struggle home feeling a bit sick promising yourself not to eat too much next time.
    ...
    Same again next time.

So what's the weather like in the Valley? Over here it's not actually raining and the roads are dry but it looks pretty threatening.
