Wrong. Womenfolk can do the hunting when the men go to war - the real man's sport.

Don't be crazy. It's not sport when they shoot back.

    That's just hard work.

But it's a great tradition to pass onto your kids... Right?

Well that depends. If a child is given a good grounding in the art of pulling wings off flies, pulling legs off spiders, blowing frogs up with a straw and seeing how high a guinea pig bounces when you throw it in the air, they may well be destined for killing greatness.

Sorry for the complete OT, but funnily enough none of the people I know that went to war and enjoyed it would have ever done what you've just written about. Strange, a?

They're not that uncommon, they just tend not to talk about it publicly. I could name at least one within 50km of you. Older guy, nice as anything, runs a motel and a ''contractor'' recruiting business. Looking at him you'd never guess it.

Over the last 5 years virtually the sole extent of my reading matter (apart from my quality time on KB, of course) has been about the New Zealand Division during WWII.

I'm struggling to remember any account that says they enjoyed it. Most recount the horror and futility of it all.

Maybe the modern Super Army Soldiers have it a lot easier than the Old Digs.

They were (bless them) mostly raw recruits, ill informed of what they'd signed up for. A bit like the bulk of the U.S. Army today. The NZDF today, for example, is a vastly different story(fully pro army).

Funny that. I recall some people on this thread writing much the same about hunters.
