Hey guys I hope you don't mind if I revive this thread as there are a lot of times for different bikes and riders who will have come a long way since then!

After doing my first time on track @ pukey testing day and having had an unbelievable amount of fun, I'm not denying it's become a personal quest of mine to break into 1.05 on a stock road zx6r. I got a very average 1.09 but at least I can feel there is a lot of room for immediate improvement.

I'm curious to get a gauge of what can be done on a road 600 vs race bike. Two Smoker has managed 63 seconds on a stock, road legal GSXR600 is that right?

Has anyone topped this since and hit 62?

I know the top level riders on their 600's are making 120 at the rear wheel and go at 58 seconds but I'd like to know if there's really much difference in it between your average slick shod race bike and a road bike? I can't see there being so.

    Post your road bike times!!!

I'd pay good money to see a NC30 get 1.07 around pukey that's for sure; simply fucking incredible what some riders can do.

One last thing, are open testing days the cheapest way to get track time with a 600 or is there some sort of racing that I could join in with that would be cheaper?

...PS. This might be a stupid question but is it possible to actually avoid the bump in the middle section of the turn 1 sweeper or does it extend all the way across the width of the track? Had a real oh shit moment when I hit that at 160, the feeling like both the wheels are in the air!

    2 Questions

How much money exactly? and who supplies the NC30?

Talk about "reviving" an old thread! But it has been done racefactory. My memory fails me of late but late on in my road racing days the FZR400 was doing 107's, and I think the NC30 did, to be fair mine was a slower one powered by an NC35 engine/electrics.

Well if a 125GP bike with about 45hp can do 1.04's I'd say a stock 600 on decent road tyres could do a 61.

FZR400 doing 1.07, was that a road bike mate? Top respect for cracking that, far out!

You don't still have that thing do you kwaka kid?

Haha, nah the FZR was a race bike.

I do have in my old book of notes a 1.08 on a full road going VFR400 NC30 (my old road one) with indicators etc still on - just plate taken off... It looked identical to my race bike... after a minor off on the racebike and an oil leak, i quickly whipped the plate off the road one and ran it out there for the next race... to be honest it was quicker than my race VFR anyway!.. Those were the days, now look at what you've done - you've dragged me back to this site-I've not been part of these circles for years.

Absolutely amazing man. 1.07 on a stock road NC30- give that man a medal! How much would you charge me to cane my one around there for me to see mate?

If the fastest posted time here is a 1.03 on a road 600 then those nationals class bikes doing 58 must be worked to hell AND have god like riders on them because I know there are some fucking good pilots here..

I wouldn't class them as "worked to hell". All they have done to the engine is race ecu, full exhaust system and a slightly thinner headgasket. They are very very close to a road bike. Probably the biggest difference is the suspension, fork internals replaced and new rear shock. But around puke it isn't a massive difference compared to other tracks.

Does anyone know what the NSR250 and RGV250 bikes can do around there?

    hey dont call my bluff!

ahaha, ah I don't think Id trust your NC30 in my hands now days!

That aside, Bruno had a MC21 NSR250 when I had my NC30 and this was in my earlier race days, they were VERY even when we were both running 1:10/1:09's, I never actually raced it myself @ pukekohe, but around the old taupo track I par'd my time on my NC30 racing it.. (45 seconds rings a bell?). I think it did actually lack a TINY bit of top speed on the NC @ pukekohe but made up for it in the lack of weight/exit out of castrol (is it still called that?). Oh and it used to lock up the rear cylinder every now and then coming into the hairpin. the RGV250 would be on par too I'd say.. a guy on here "Hoon' used to have one and be in the same bracket.

107's on a pair of sub 80hp wheezers and battling it out all day long. --Yep I remember that. Dang you got up to speed on the zxr really fast ol son. Gave me n black ice a real run for our money.
Last round at towpoo it was a guy on an RGV250 who led every race. I thought I was superman and was gioing faster than him--till I ended in the kitty litter

The 107 was on a stock ZXR400 and he was battling for the lead in a race at the time
I should know because I had the best/worst seat injthe house-battlin out with him.
The difference between club level laps and national level laps is just that the guys do what they need to do to win. so the top club guys only go as fast as they need to. That and I gotta say theres a bit more attention to suspension

    On the T1 (jennian) front.
on the start/finish straight go as far left -yes LEFT as you can untill you see the apex then turn in and stay as tight to the right hand wall as ya can without running over the ripple strip. It also makes a huge difference f you are on the gas or trailing the throttle so make sure you are on the gas with the chasis loaded up -even if you need to be in a lower gear.

For $250 CASH on the day, I would gaurantee any club/track day rider a minimum 1 second per lap faster than they ever gone or NO money changes hand

Get a group of 4 riders, and I would reduce this to $200 each rider

    I'll vouch for the man.

He taught me over two seconds at Pukekohe in one day. Started @ 1.03.5 on Shauns K6 600 and by the end of the day we were 1.01.3.

You'll also reduce trye wear and your own body wear.

    Best $250 you'll ever spend.

I am keen. How about get me on a 2004 CBR600RR from 1.09 to 1.03 on my second time? How much would that cost?

    Yes I'm serious lol.
