Lotsa room and beds on my vineyard in Martinborough (Wairarapa). This is the most relaxing village I know and I would love to be able to offer some time out to any Cantabrians who need some R and R.
My daughter is down there and Kbers have been fantastic offering help, support, accommodation. My small effort to help anyone down there

The phone number 0800 Auckland has been setup for those whom have bed for some poor chchians to stay. I don't know if other numbers have been setup.

Donations - cash - red cross
I think they are also taking no cash donations.

If you see ANY emergency services in ANY region in the country, don't even hesitate - let them through IMMEDIATELY. Not only could they be going to Chch, but its skeleton crews in all other regions over the next week so we need to give them priority over our schedules.

If anyone is going there. They need cookers, BBQ's, gas bottles, petrol, water, blankets and milk/bread. As these items are almost non-existant down there.

We have a heap of room here...two spare queen size beds and two singles plus a pull-out couch downstairs, I know we are long way away but the offer is genuine and we can pick up from the airport if you want to make it a weekend thing or even just a few days.

Good thinking everyone. Safe accommodation away from Christchurch for a few days is very practical help. Some people, especially those with children, are just terrified and being able to go to a safe haven would be a godsend.

My wife and I are fortunate enough to be able to provide a house in Central Otago for her relatives, all of whom live in Christchurch.

My wife is waiting to fly up and coordinate Civil Defence and I'm hoping for her sake that she doesn't come under pressure while in Chch from politicians and the media. It happened last time but I think this time the public will be more realistic as to what can be done.

Other help? Right now, there are enough emergency and support services. Adding more people just confuses everything and clogs the organisation up.

Donate money to the Salvation Army, Red Cross, and St Johns. They need it and know how to use it.

I can offer respite with a spare lounge with a double pull out couch and a single pullout couch, two bunks enough to sleep a family of 5, no pets sorry and a van to drive (if licensed), can pickup from TGA airport.

Can also source all baby gear (porta cot etc) if needed.

5 mins walk to shops/cafe/bar and beach. 10 minute drive to most ammenities.

    Thumbs up accomodation website

Just found this great site to register offers of accomodation. Great to see a website to pull it all together.
