We actually have only 1 qual session. I think we need to have 2 15 min practices 1 15min qualifying 3 15 lap races but have a maximum of 3 sets of tyres.
Something they have introduced into MX and SX all around the world is quick fire short races to keep spectators excited!
Imagine having 3x 6 lap sprint races with 5 mins between races it would be way more exciting to watch

It was based on what I saw, no one seemed to know what was going on at briefing, threats to abandon the event and send home flag marshals etc.
Just what I can remember off the top of my head.....
1, Brian raised a issue regarding flag marshals to look where the rider is going not where they are coming from. This was greeted by an abusive steward suggesting that because flag marshals are volunteers then they can do the job however they like and if we dont like it they will go home.
2, I raised an issue regarding the Pit Lane start process, I was promptly told that there were no pit lane starts from a steward and an official.
3, The person giving the briefing had no idea what was going on as far as what practices were going on who was racing who was qualifying and for how long and tried to tell 600s and 1000s that we were only having 10 mins for qualifying.
A briefing shouldnt break out in several arguments as it did when the riders have resonable questions about the event and safety issues so based on the fact that these guys that were running the event didnt want to be there then I would be right to assume that they dont really want us there and they would be happy to run a club meeting thats not as important?
Actually Sloan it was Johnny Hepburn asking the question and it was about the flaggies identifying which riders had passed under the yellow flag,Brian only intervened after the "Volunteer statement was madeIm sure if you contact Southland MCC you will discover the person organising the meeting was dropped in it at the last minute and with little help or advice from outside,The same goes with the other helpers involved and while I was annoyed on the day as well,Now that Ive bothered too gather the relevant information from those involved,I have a better understanding,
Thank you SMCC and Steve Winteringham for the extra effort involved in getting this meeting together under VERY trying circumstances(NOT TOO MENTION THE FARKEN WEATHER).I hope you will be around to run a better organised meeting next year.

THANKYOU Billy - all agree that the Teretonga meet wasnt quite up to its usual standard, but Billy is 100% correct, the Organiser was the guy who put his hand up to help, or the Event would NOT HAVE HAPPENED .......... AT ALL
Sloan, I REALLY look forward to the day when you get your wish and run your own meeting !

No ones answered the title of the thread:
'Over how many days should a nz road race championship meeting be held?'
How many days should it be held on?? 1 day? 2 days? 3 days? What??
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??
Oops, my bad, for some reason I thought it was 2 qual sessions.
Yep, I remember in Western Australia they surveyed the club meeting spectators and the overwhelming response was for several shorter races rather than 2 longer ones. To give the clubman's guys experience at starts (scariest part for the inexperienced) they used to even break up one of the 8 lap races into 2 x 4 lappers back to back. They'd do the first 4 lap race and come straight around off the cool down lap and grid up for another one without leaving the track.

I'm with Sloan, all credit to Steve he did as good a job as was humanly possible I think but I felt like I was not wanted there. For example, when the computer system went down I walked all the way over to the timing tower and up the stairs to offer my assistance and was told to piss off before I had even put my hand on the door handle.
This compared to the previous year when we were made to felt really welcome.

funnily enough, thats one of the suggestions I've already made for a change of format for next season. Already done here for years with 250 proddy racing, StreetStock/ProLites, hell -even the Supers had a try and seemed to enjoy it ...... 3 rows of 4 ( so only the fastest 12 ) 3 or 4 lap race, regrid with row 2 on the front, another 3-4 lapper, then regrid with row 3 on the front, at the end of the last "heat" the best points score wins ... the Trophy has some VERY illustrious names on it, both from the past AND of the future
Maybe some enterprising Clubs would like to trial it over a Winter Series ?????
