    My only gripes would be, I'm from Wellington (Wainui...) and we never called it Wellywood....I've never heard of it referred to as Wellywood. It's not called Wellywood either. So I don't see the point of a faux Hollywood sign on the side of a hill in our capital...
    How much taxpayer money will be wasted too?
    It was a twin hatching if I recall correctly...

    .... but at least Hollywood really is Hollywood. Its not say Hollytown and they call it Hollywood on the sign just because there are a lot of porn actors there or summat.

    Not only are a large number of Wellingtonians completely unable to take the piss out of themselves (as well as a depressingly significant proportion of the rest of the country it must be said), but the whining and grinding of cultural cringe has probably already drowned out all aircraft noise from the airport as well

    Pretty much a win-win really

    Irrespective of whether the sign goes up or not now, Wellywood has securely cemented itself as the precious capital of the planet - onya.

    They wanted to get local community groups involved with the sign. The Wellington Tourette Society came up with this, I rather like it....
