    I use a Givi HPS9000

Great helmet and only cost me $150 on sale. Dropped it the other day and scratched up the visor so will probably buy another one the same. Tried AGV and find they rub on my forehead, no matter what size I get.

    I also have a Givi helmet, but it's a flip-up one (Xmodular).

I paid $399 for it, and have since discovered it bears a striking resemblance to a Zeus 3000, which I've seen on Trademe for $260, and which get's a pretty good review on Webbikeworld.

I can't say for sure if the two helmets are more or less the same, not having seen the Zeus one close up...but the photos in the review show a lot of identical details, plus there's a "made in taiwan" label on the Givi's removable lining (which is where Zeus is based).

I have a cheap HJC & I wont be getting one again, am hating it more an more for bad ventilation, noise, shake & general crappyness in the build quality. Only a matter of time before the padding compacts enough so I can say its unsafe an get another helmet, is slowly getting looser.
Next time will find one that fits then try to justify the money (I think someone said that already?)

First off, thanks for all the help and advice on the lid, great work peeps.

Ended up with a really noce R Jays Dominator lid that fits my fecked shaped head just right. Plenty of vent in it and a good fixing strap. Got it for $200 and am more than happy. Just need to stop the thing from fogging up and I will be a happy man

Thanks again KB, you never fail

    Stay safe out there

Cover the inside of the visor with Vanilla icecream, let it dry. Wipe off the excess.

When the visor mists up, lick the visor. Problem Fixed.

    Tinted contacts are available

You can get tinted contacts if you wear hard contacts like I do, they are great for evening or morning riding as they tint just enough to take the glare off but not nough that you dont need a pair of sunnies to go with them on a bright day. They change colour quickly enough to get you through that Dusk/Dawn bit when too dark for sunnies but too light not to wear them

Now that Fatt Max is sorted any help for a FatHead

I currently have a HJC CL Max XXXL Modular (flip up the face) lid and want to start the search for a new model before this one gets to the too loose for safety stage. I would happily have another CL Max but they dont make them anymore. I have a tall and long (front to back) noggin which will not allow the use of a fixed full face so modular is the go and like FM I will be limited in budget.

Any suggestions from others out there that got told they had a face the shape of a horse!! when looking for a helmet.

BTW I find my HJC is great from a noise perspective when not behind a screen that is too short but have to wear plugs on the GTR cause the screen is made for short peoples.

I did say shaped like a Horse not looks like a horse.

I believe it is because I have a prominant honker and a tall oval head, I have had to compress the forehead and the rear polystyrene insert in the HJC to stop the headaches (and this is the the biggest helmet I could find!! apart from a ~$700 Shoei that fit but was right ass to get on).

The first helmet I had for road use was a Kiwi in the early 90's, that was a nice fit for me back then even though my hair was more abundant it still fit really well, pity it had a little incident. Anyone know if they still make Kiwi helmets anywhere?

I have the same problem. Givi HPS9000 fits perfectly and you don't end up with the horrid red mark on your forehead when you take it off
