For those who are wondering what happened to Spies http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/170...protector.html

I hit my back pretty badly, my back protector is really busted up, but it did its job
Not really a fan of the wet racing as it often becomes a race of attrition. Looks like they will all be good to go for the next round though.

Fairs fair, Stoner is in awesome form. But Honda also deserve a fair slice of that credit for providing an awesome bike that all the Honda boys are looking in ominous form on. Dovi's doing great, Simo's qualifying form, Pedrosa up there with Stoner etc, the Honda is definitely the bike to beat. But for Rossi cleaning up Stoner, and Simo taking out Pedrosa the championship would be an absolute Honda benefit. The competition is actually artificially close at the moment with results flattering the other manufacturers. Funky gearbox, overall package, whatever it is Honda and Stoner are on a different plane.

I can't help thinking that if Stoner was still on the Ducati this year he'd be much the same as Lorenzo, close but not quite on terms with probably Pedrosa who would be romping away with it.

It's not really fair to compare Pedrosa and Edwards' broken collar bones. Not all breaks are created equal. Pedrosa was only just coming back from a recent operation on his collar bone to fix problems related to his Motegi(?) crash last year and already had a plate inserted, so to break it again is nothing to be sneezed at. His situation sounds a lot more complicated than Edwards'.

Stoner gets a bad rep for his attitude but I'd love to see an interview or footage of him away from the track. I couldn't fuckin' stand Leyton Hewitt (the Oz tennis player), then I saw some TV footage of him away from the court, without his game face on, and he was just a completely different bloke. It'd be great to catch Stoner away from the track and have a few beers (hope he brings ID...and his missus) to see what he's like.

Aust Motorcycle news had a good story of him a while back. He just seems like a young kid who hates all of the fame and attention the riders get. He'd far rather be out hunting (with his crossbow) or fishing somewhere in the middle of nowhere than doing all of the promotional shit etc. And I'd rather have a beer with just his Mrs.

As I understand it he didn't break the same one again; he broke the other one.

You'd be correct. Think his are made of straw.

It would seem that his reputation for being a crasher may not be all that fair (even though obviously he ended up on his head quite often), as maybe he was simply trying to win races on bikes not actually capable of it.
It was pretty clear (to some of us, aye) that the duke didn't like corners and as Stoner is only really happy winning races, he fell down a bit. Now that he's on the best bike I just hope he fills his boots with titles, Doohan style.

I think it'd be fair to say his rivals may well be shitting themselves right about now...

I'm very keen to see how Rossi develops the Ducati. Remember he took on Yamaha when they were struggling? Who'd be a better rider to help get your bike winning?

Casey is doing well and both he and Honda deserve kudos for the package they've got. Yes the rain made it somewhat artificial but shows not just who could handle the conditions, ie: Stoner did well, but also made it more of a rider talent race than manufacturers.

Rossi and Burgess had the Yamaha sorted before their first race. Not this time so the Duke must be a real problem to them.

About time the Honda was competitive again and back on top where they belong, they seemed to lose their way briefly and hiring Casey was the trick they needed.

Yeah true - I wonder when they will start playing that old tune "its the bike not the rider you know"
