    1Tonne vs Qmoto?

I know I'm at high risk of starting a flame war between Quasi and 1Tonne, but I can't think over anywhere else to ask this. Just behave, you two

I'm in Welly and have just started getting into bikes. I got started with a motorbike jacket that is just plain old (30 years old!), but has been great for low-speed practice. It's well built and has been very cared for. I've got a helmet, boots and gloves as well, no worries, just missing the pants so far. Been wearing thermals and 2 pairs of jeans, but I know that's not enough.

So i'm now looking at getting some decent starting leather protection for my top and legs. I''ve been looking at a first set of 2-piece leathers for the road, not the track (obviously). Mostly commuting and eventually getting out of town for a trip or 3. I don't have a huge budget (I'd like to keep it under $700, ideally...) so I've tried to shave off some coin by looking online and have narrowed it down to these two 1Tonne and Qmoto 2-piece suits:

    1Tonne's 2-piece Panther Suit:
    http://www.1tonne.co.nz/index.php?pa...=&categoryid=4

and Qmoto's Black Rock (under their QStreet line) 2-piece suit:
    Jacket:
    http://www.qmoto.co.nz/gear-shop/qmo...&category_id=7
    and Pants:
    http://www.qmoto.co.nz/gear-shop/qmo...&category_id=8

But I'm torn over which one will be better for me, or which is the better value, or which features are really worth having. Can you guys please give me some advice?

    1Tonne
    Pros
    Lower price by about $35
    Has some hip padding
    Cons
No hard armor on the shins
Unknown leather thickness (just states "Grade A+")
Are the foam protectors those two strips on the back? Is he wearing armor under?
What does 'multiple stitching' mean? Where is it stitched and how many times there?

    Qmoto
    Pros
    Tripple Nylon Stitching
    Padding on sides of arms
    Padding on lower neck/upper shoulder
    Hard armor on shins
Reflective piping (I do plan on night riding some)
    Collar looks comfy
    Cons
Doesn't look to have any tailbone padding
Not specified what armor is in the back of jacket (but did note two strips of additional padding)
    No hip padding?

As far as I can tell, both have had great feedback and happy customers.
I won't be using the knee sliders, of course. Not that kind of rider, and I hear 1Tonne's wear out in one day anyway.

    Can anyone vouch for comfort/fit?
How they hold up in a crash/multiple crashes? (I'm under the slight impression that Qmoto's stuff holds up a little better in a crash, most likely from the stitching.)

I'm ever, ever so slightly leaning towards Qmoto's suit at the moment, but I'm really tight on $ at the moment, and at the same time want good protection from a decent pair of leathers.

    Help?

    Qmoto hands down man,
not to mention if you hit up Bret, (QMoto) he would happily give you a run down of his gear,
I currently have one of his Jackets, and its been the best thing since sliced bread for me,
and im in the process of getting some pants off him too.
I havnt had any of 1tonnes leather stuff ill be honest, but I have felt let down with a couple of their products I have had. Dont want to run anything down so ill leave it at that.

    I have owned both.
I will recommend Qmoto to anyone, I can take pics of the gear after an 80-90kph crash if need be. It's excellent.

I have a qausimoto viper jacket, and 1tonne panther pants. im currently sitting in a room with a friend who is wearing his Qmoto edge jacket and qmoto estremos pants.

As I just bought my 1 tonne pants about 3 days ago, I wanted to compare qaulity, and we have both agreed after a good inspection, that both the 1tonne panther pants, and the qmoto estremos are of equal qaulity in terms of materials and construction.

The friend has had a bin or two in qausi stuff, and it stood up well.

The comment I will make about the qausi stuff, is that the stitching on the velcro areas is problematic. On my viper jacket which Ive had approx 8 months, the stitching holding the velcro tags to the leather has come adrift. The guy sitting next to me has had his estremos pants for almost a year, and the velcro for the sliders has come almost completely off on one leg - for the record, he does not use sliders, ever, so this is not from hard riding/knee dragging, but he is an every day rider.

I will also say that over all the both of us are very happy with our qausi gear, and they have been great to deal with, and my friend has had excellent after sales service from qmoto when sending items back for repairs, and they are very friendly and easy to deal with, and the postage is very quick.

As for the 1 tonne stuff, I found them very easy, I purchased on their online shop, and the pants arrived very fast, and they provided very efficient communication when I asked for a track and trace number for the sent item, I have no complaints at all.

I cannotcomment on the longevity of 1tonne leather having only had the pants a few days now, but they arecomfortable, and as i said, we have just this evening done a side by side comparison to the qausi pants, and we agreed they are of equal qaulity in our opinions.

So based on our experiences, bot shops offer good leather, at good prices, were easy to deal with, offered fast service and response times. Im very happy with both my qmoto and my 1tonne stuff thus far.

Hopefully this helps coming from someone with both the companies gear right here!!,If you have any other questions, Ill help out if I can.

Then dont ask the question on here.

You have no idea about flame wars either, my people broke KB last time we had a decent Flame Warrior fight

Gear is gear, is gear. Some is better than others, some is fucken wonderful. Some is over sold by fans of the product, while others that have purchased the same gear think it sucks!

Do your own research. Best advice I can give you, try the gear on BEFORE parting with coin.

Nice troll, I nibbled a little bit...

Have 1Tonne pants & Qmoto jacket. Got both at a good deal. Like both. Quality looks similar to be honest. Both good businesses to deal with. Your choice. I am sure you would be happy whatever. :-)

Pffftttttttttttt TT has probably only just got out of bed, and his friend probably rode..

I wouldn't recommend anyone ride in this shit weather, my poor little old honda was covered in snow at 4pm and it took me 5 attempts to get it fired into life, and then came the challenge of seeing in a white blizzard of snow and hail lmao

it is that attitude right there that puts alot of people off buying your products qausi. I have got some of your gear, and I overall like it, I am overall happy with it, and I happily recommend it to others BUT, your gear isnt perfect either, I can upload a photo right now of velcro coming apart on jackets, and velcro knee slider patches (that have never been used) coming adrift both of these items are less than a year old from you, - your products also have faults.
Im sitting here with qausi pants in one hand, and 1tonne in the other, stitching lines, leather thickness etc, are about equal to each other. of course you are going to promote your product, but at the end of the day, if YOU can make good gear for a good price, why do you imply that nobody else in the world could possibly do it too?

When you say armour, can you get different levels/types of armour that go into jackets?

    Yes you can
Knox armour is about the best, most of the stuff that comes out in cheap stuff is either fake CE or Satra certified which is crap.
Elbow, Shoulder should be certified, we dont risk it and specify KNOX as its the best.

Trademe sellers have been B.S ing about the foam pad being a back Protector for ages and its a load of crap, hence I sell proper KNOX back Protectors.

Tiger Tim if you dont like the attitude you imply I dont give a poo buddy, facts are Facts mate.

Any Velcro product will eventually fail, usually if we are notified we fix it, never a problem
Ive run out of fucks to give

If you have that little piece of foam in the back of your jacket, its not a back protector, its just a piece of pad haha
