Unhappy RIP last of the intelligent give-way rules

As of 0500 March 25 2012 NZ will lose the last logical, intelligent give-way rule in the developed world . It will be a sad moment in NZ road history as we reverse & re-retard our give-way rule to match the rest of the world & increase our intersection accident rates.

When this come in be sure to take extra care out there bikers, especially the newer riders.
Keep the vigilance up & the accidents down. May we all get through this atrocity to the road rules unscathed.

I cringe at the number of minor (hopefully) crashes I'll have to attend due to this change - a good thing we were flooded with TV ads, newspaper articles etc about it eh!

One hopes we will be when the time comes, but 6 months beforehand would perhaps be inviting additional intersection anarchy.

As long as we ALL do not assume ... as we have right-of-way ... we will be GIVEN right-of-way ...

Assumptions are the mother of all ACC claims ...

One problem is, whenever they change a road-rule, half the people (including a portion of the police force) get it wrong and just cause frustration for the rest of us. Indicating right to go straight-through a round-a-bout anyone?

At last we go back to the more sensible give way rule. No longer do we have to give way to a vehicle that is giving way to a vehicle behind us. At last the vehicle that will take the shorter length of time to complete a manouver will have the right of way. Yay......
