Half the fuckwits on the road don't understand the rules now, so if they keep doing what they're doing in ignorance of the law then we'll just have a different set of fuckwits not understanding the rules.

I'll just keep pointing my bullbars at dickheads that don't give way, mainly for the amusement of watching them going off at me for obeying the road rules.

When this come in be sure to take extra care out there bikers, especially the newer riders.
Keep the vigilance up & the accidents down. May we all get through this atrocity to the road rules unscathed.

Exactly. I don't know what's intelligent about having a line of cars on the left, a line of cars in the middle of the road and a bunch of idiots shooting the gap between the lines.

Now if someone could get rid of those fucking idiots that slam on the brakes and stop because it's polite to let someone out of their driveway the world will be a better place.

So you're saying having 2 lines of traffic stopped on a busy road is better than having one line of traffic?!?!?!

Left-turning is stopped and giving way to right-turning who is stopped and giving way to the straight-through-crowd. Where's the sense in that??

    oh...
    at last you changed...

it's a pity, i clearly understood the meaning of the rule, and it seemed fine to me.
(even if i never drove down there, so i actually donno if it was practically convenient...)

i believe that all around the world governments are making the same mistake: the problem is not usually a particular "rule" by itself, it's much more frequently the bunch of people that has a license in its pocket and should not....

in italy i'd roughly cut that number in half (simply designing a proper licensing examination), but who is the politician that could do something like that?

As it is, turning left is too complicated for too many people
    .
    1. Check left of car for a cyclist, pedestrian or other potential hazard.
    2. Check oncoming car to see if they are turning right, making sure to give way if they are.
    3. Look in rearview mirror to check if the vehicle behind is going straight ahead and if they are, proceed with left turn.

Too many places too look in a short space of time while braking, changing down gears and guiding the vehicle in the right direction.

I never sat any of my licenses under the current rules - it'll be good to go back to what I understood at the time.

left turn waits for right turn so the right turners don't hold up the straight through on their side, if theres straight through on the left turn side the left turns go round when they come through. It maximizes traffic flow.
The left turners can always pull into the kerb & wait the right turners are stuck in the middle of the lane waiting holding up traffic

I say "Good Riddance” to an idiotic rule.

No other country has it and for a very good reason.

Forget to cancel your indicator and end up as road kill AND it will be your own fault - N I C E

The common courtesy of most will mean that the, soon to be obsolete, rule will be still practiced on a voluntary basis; however with a new found safety.

Many in most countries practice this voluntary courtesy and no one else has ever felt the need to make it law.

YES I do agree that the law change will cause heaps of mishaps. I’m not looking forward to that

The good AND bad thing about the rule change is that people will have to drive/ride with their brains engaged. This appears to be quite troublesome to many

But they don't, that's the problem. Works in theory but in practice the left turners can't see the traffic coming straight through because of the piece of shit SUV in their mirror, so they sit there waiting for the right turner. So on roads that are only just wide enough for two lanes the straight through traffic ends up crossing the centreline to get around the stationary left turners, then swing back to the left so they don't head on with the right turners and the straight through traffic heading the opposite way get pissed off at wankers crossing the centre line.

About as troublesome as using indicators ...
