He chose to go off on a tangent

I called him out initially on his one comment.

No one accused him of being a woman bashing moron. But if he had seen his dad do it to his mum he might have thought it was acceptable, hence hitting the car driver.

His initial comments came across as bragging - not just by me either obviously.

    Anyway.....

But it does put it into perspective. It's a bit like something Homer Simpson said being taken seriously.

Homer is meant to be taken seriously

OK not really but most of the social commentary within the show is very valid.

1984 was fiction, but some have suggested the concepts addressed in that work of fiction are of increasing relevancy. Asimov was smart, science ficiton writing was only a portion of his contribution to society.

1984 was fiction but it was also commentary on the world state of affairs. Its relevancy was to 1948, the idea that so many took it to be scifi and becoming increasingly likely shows how little has changed.
Then there are all the works like Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies, even Plays like The Importance of Being Ernst, whilst all fiction were ways to make comments on society that would other wise be considered unpublishable.
This is now the nursery rhymes started, but that would get me started on how wrong it is to PC traditional rhymes.

    Mmmmm donuts...

Not really, most of it's cliche and stereotyping.

Absolutely, but it shouldn't be used to attack someone elses perspective on something.

I guess just licking the icing off the top is valid and helps sell the product.

I've seen your type before ... now you sity on your keyboard and chuck shit at me like that ...

Now, I was just stating what I did more than 30 years ago (probably longer than you have been alive!!!) with no attempt to appear tough or to be sorry for what I did ... just stating "this happened ..."

It was something I did more than 30 years ago .. approaching 60 I am not the same person I was then .. and the person I am now would not do that.

I am not especially proud of my past nor do I have any regrets .. my past makes me what I am today - all of it - the good the bad the crap and the good times ...

I am who I am now .. not who I was more than 30 years ago ..
