Many food companies do that already to suck the buyer in.

You wrote "it seems ..." which is an unconfirmed speculation. At least I can back up my statement with facts. But then you'd probably say it's just propaganda etc etc.

Facts? Thought your comment was speculation on what would happen if a company followed a hypothetical path. Both appear to be speculation, one, perhaps, based on experience and the other on regulatory expectation

The fact is OO6, companies that sell crap do not last long. Not only do customers "vote with their feet" but in the case of food suppliers they get done by the authorities.

    Food standards are facts too.

I would like to see the money go into healthier foods

and you are right it is not ONLY about fatty foods (my grandad used to have dripping sandwiches if he was lucky and he was never fat) though it isn't all carbs and sugar, why are people so all or nothing?

Excess calories of any form, much decreased output...we all sit on our asses way too much!
Many bodies react differently to types of calories, some people tend to stay slim if they cut out sugar, other if they cut out fat...there is no one size fits all approach to a healthy weight unfortunately

But I agree that if they go ahead they need to consider tax on refined sugary things too!

One of the worst things for putting on weight...alcohol. Lots of bad calories, very little nutritional goodness. I think that the fat tax is a bit of a joke really. I agree with the sentiments and the driving factors, but I don't think that a tax is going to see much effect.

Eat as you've evolved to eat. Move around.

wubbish... crap to you may well be bliss to me and several thousand others. Some health foods taste and have the consistency of cardboard, yet they still sell. There's no such thing as crap food... someone will like it for a number of reasons.

Aspartame is also claimed to actually worsen weight gain. Nice.
