Too much risk for sure. Mom will mnot get a boot over her cast and can not be riding bare toes!

I know how you feel Anne, but at least mine was the left leg and I could drive.
Someone will front up, mark my words...it will all be fine on the day.

As Yungatart has said, I wont risk losing my toes for any money. Then I have to carry my crutches etc No, I wont ride or pillion, or drive with my leg in plaster. Appart from the fact I am not allowed to, I dont have any insurance if I drive in plaster.

I hope some one can help

How the hell I'm gonna get bike fit enough for a huge Cape ride is beyond me, but I'll give it a go. I'm probably gonna be the slowest so put me in a group that doesn't mind, I don't want people to be disapointed with the pace I'm going. Other than that I really enjoyed it, Just need to practise, practise, practise.
    Hi Newbi,
The ride is a learner ride so there will be lots of people that want to look at the scenery and will be happy to ride with you. I have ridden Auckland to Taupo and back at 70kph. Saw the rider I was shepherding become a hard arse biker on that trip, an awesome experance. You just enjoy the ride, if any one wants to go faster they have the option to fu#k off. Regards Richard

Cheers for that Richard, Yeah I intend to enjoy myself on this adventure and "ride my own Ride" as everyone seems to say, and if that means I need to pull over to relieve the cramps in my hands then so be it hahahaha, I do try to relax my arms and hands and hopefully over the next few weeks I will get better and more confident. I'm off into town tomoro for the first time, will be nice and quiet on a Sunday, Hopefully. Look forward to meeting you come November. Thanks, Jo.

I had cramps in my wrist too when I started. Mainly due to the newbie grip of death. I rode everyday (except when it was raining) and was nice and relaxed in a few weeks.
Keep at it you'll be fine
(unless you pull the front brake in the middle of a sharp corner )

Yup same. Got past it in about a week.

And same with the newbie rider I went out with the other day.

Just ride more, these things you will get past.

Yeah it's mainly my throttle hand of course cos I can't stretch it or anything whilst moving, obviously hahaha, but it will get stronger like you said in a few weeks, trouble is it's only a few weeks until the BIG ride lol.

Same as I was telling a new rider the other night. Relax, say to your self Relax. At the beginning of the ride he was stressed. By the finish he was loving it just from relaxing.

Just ride lots. You will be fine.

    +1.
A couple of weeks in, maybe after you have gone on the motorway a few times try going up SH16. I can come along if you want, and I'm sure others will be just as happy to also. We'd keep it slow and it'd be pretty awesome

Congrats on your first good ride Newbi! You'll pick up the knack of it really quickly, especially with good instruction from more experienced riders! (Like Maha, he helped me sort my cornering out in one weekend!)

Hey Mom, if need be I can drive you (I qualify on the license and age fronts) if no-one else offers, I would like to ride BUT I'd rather still see you have a wicked weekend away with the rest of us! So let me know if anyone else puts their hand up, otherwise I'd be happy to oblige.

    1990 CBR250RR - fully rebuilt and awesome!
    1999 CBR900RR - a work in progress...
