Not to mention my #1 bike is still in bits (hopefully this will be changing tomorrow) and had i not had a spare I would still have yet to put a leg over a bike this year...not exactly ideal buildup to racing with the fastest f#$kers in NZ.

But yes a spare bike this year is not optional for the South Island rounds at least.

    Well said.
Reading all the posts/replies I'm pretty dismayed by the many negative attitudes ... here's a guy, who, btw, I wouldn't know if I fell over him ... who clearly loves racing, is dedicated and committed, has a partner who supports and helps him racing and he gets an opportunity to do something most average racers only dream about.
He is trying to figure out a way to make it happen so he voices his thoughts on a forum dedicated to his fellow racers ... and mostly he gets shot to pieces.
We all know that racing sucks the life out of the piggy bank and most racers live in an economic vacum .... a giant money void created by their/our intrinsic passion, so this is probably why the request for help has failed ..... mostly, we're all broke.

But jeez guys, give the man a break. He's probably got a once in a life time opportunity to race overseas and a small donation from each of us probably won't destroy us and just might help one of us realize a dream.
I see Shaun has put up a pledge thread to help him ... awesome stuff. I will pledge a small amount .... $50. It's not much I know but I can't even afford to get my own race bike finished let alone think about racing it.

    Good luck Biggles

As far as a representative for the NZ race Scene, Biggles will do us proud with his presentation etc

Na, no battle in my head.

I'm jealous of you mostly. I'm pretty sure that with a decent set up bike and the funds to race I'd better the results you've gotten, but good on you for being out there and doing it. You improve every season and have one of the best presented pits in the paddock.

In an endurance race you could do very well by merely being more fit than the competition. By that I mean if you can ride closer to your limit for longer than them, the deficit is substantially reduced.

    Good luck.

    Fark....First Shaun now you!!!

Your not the only one that could do better than me most likely either Drew...in fact I am the first to admit I'm not the fastest in the field, not by a longshot. This of course is my goal to change, and as you said, if I can keep getting better every year I will continue pushing. I have only been racing 3 years and riding for about 7 so I need to keep reminding myself this fact. I'm up against racers that have been doing it longer than I have been riding.

The thing is that most don't get is you don't have to be the fastest to succeed...you have to firstly be 100% committed and do WHATEVER it takes to race. After this you need to be consistent and not crash. I would love you to get some funds together to come kick my arse..it would help me get faster I have no doubt!

Re the fitness....well, I can't rely on that either unfortunately!

That she is! She is a keeper that one.. Walked past the Biggles Racing tent at the Teretonga round of Nationals last year; saw Mrs Biggles changing the rear wheel of the bike, and Mr Biggles vacuuming the tent! It was fantastic!! Made me smile

    Good luck with Germany mate

p.s has Mrs Biggles got a sister??
