Well what a week so far!
Started on my trip to Hampton Downs Sunday, stopped in to say Hi to Mark and Anne and ended up crashing for the night (thanks heaps for having me over and feeding me), finally made it to HD's on Monday only a day late, where I watched my mate doing level 1 of the superbike school which he got a lot out of, once he had finished and I had unloaded the bike off trailer we headed to the motel we were staying in to have the shittiest nights sleep ever normally Pokeno Motel is awesome alas not this time around (but can't win them all).
Woke up Tuesday excited as always to get back out on the track and catch up with plenty of people I hadn't seen since the last time I had been a the track, got into discussions with Darren Sweetman who was taking level 4 that day and after figuring out where I need to start working on riding went out on the track for my first session.... Man 3 months since previous stint on the track and it showed I am sure (didn't help I was the only road rider doing level 4 all the others were on race bike and either racers or dedicated track day riders) but I was still enjoying it so that didn't worry me to much...
It did however highlight that my recently purchased suspension wasn't set up correctly as turn 6 (Sweeper that leads onto the main straight) I was having to continuously put input through the handlebars to make the bike tip back into the corner as I had set rebound to high so bike was trying to stand back up all the way round the corner, so entire day wasn't ruined but really didn't push as hard as I know I can around the track which kind of bummed me a bit.... However even a suck day at the track beats a great day at work hehe and I knew with Wednesday coming I was headin to New Plymouth to see Robert Taylor to get the suspension sorted.
Also briefly spoke to Brayden (Methane_birds) who was doing level 1 - hope you enjoyed it mate.
Skip ahead to Wednesday (today) and I left Pokeno Motel at 7:15 am with the bike all trailered up again (done previous night when leaving the track) and headed off to New Plymouth to see Mr Taylor about my suspension and drove 5 hours solid to get there just after 12pm.. 2 hours in his presence and my bike was set up and I was a lot more wiser for my troubles and very happy after taking the bike for a 5 min ride down the road and seeing how much better it was running, so back on the trailer it goes and I start heading home, after arriving back in Auckland about 7, I head over harbour bridge and meet up with TSC and fellow Nassers at carpark in Albanay, was interesting to see what they do however not sure if it is something I would attend personally but as long as they get something out of it.
With a quick stop in again at Mark and Annes and a finaly stop for fuel and food, I finally made it home just after 11 where I have carefully unloaded the bike and unceremoniously dumped the rest of the shit out of the car in my room to be dealt with tomorrow!
1300k's since Sunday have been completed plus 200k on the track on my bike.... all in all not a bad effort if I do say so myself for 4 days being away.
Ash bud, gutted to just read about your bike hope your not off the bike for to long, insurance going to repair or write-off?
Also apologies if none of that makes sense I am exhausted![]()
And I'm gonna miss out![]()
