Here is something you may have seen in Governors Bay.

Cyclist playing power games. Does that push anyone's buttons???

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JRxIhiOLQs
I wasn't there at the time but my views differ from comments so far.

The video and recent posts highlight both an annoying cyclist and some impatient, inconsiderate motorcyclists. I have been known to go for the occasional cycle ride around the bays and would be disgusted if I was overtaken in such a rude manner just because I was inconveniencing someone for all of ten seconds.

she moved closer to me as I was passing, I was almost over the center line.
This was happening less than 50 meters from a blind downhill 35kph tight left hander on a narrow section of road.
A vehicle coming the other way could have created a potential serious situation.
the woman was traveling at 55kph and accelerating!
she was only just in control.
It's a 50kph zone. Why was there such a need to overtake? Was it not possible to hold back and overtake at a more suitable time?

    Just my 0.003 cents.

As she was on a legal vehicle ... travelling just over the posted speed limit (apparently) why the "anger" ... ??? Do you have more right to be on the road than she has ???

Aside from the fact that SHE had the legal right to use the road ... just as you have. You have the responsibility to pass her safely. Without endangering her, yourself ... or any other road user.

Perhaps a little self control on your part.

So would you be riding so close to the middle of the road. Or weaving across the lane so much. From the little that I know of you I don't think so.
And remember ...... if it hasn't got one of "Uncle Flip's" prosthetic kickers it isn't a real motorbike!!!

She was in her lane ... where were you when you overtook her ???

And you think she was dangerous.

You can tell from the video that the bike is roadworthy???

The cyclists speed was 40k. (Off the vid)

Correct me if I am wrong, the road code says that on a single lane road we must travel as close to the left as practical???

The two cyclists behind the rider in the blue top were riding within a metre of the footpath, The rearmost was a man in a dark top with a blue bag on his back. The second rider was a lady wearing an orange top.

As for keeping as close to the left as practical, the video shows the first rider weaving across the lane several times to within a metre of the centre line. The video does not lie.

Also on closer inspection of the videos I think rider referred to was not a she.

The cyclist was all over the lane, and the video shows where I was when I overtook Him. And yes he was putting himself and other road users at risk.

What are you so angry about??

It makes no difference if the bike was "roadworthy" or not (or male or female). Just because another is breaking any traffic regulation ... is not a valid reason to break any yourself. If you had collided with her, or caused her to crash .... or you crashed into a vehicle coming the other way)You could be held responsible. The vid would show THAT too. The keeping as far as practible, applies as much to the cyclist ... as to you. In single lane traffic ... motorcycles have as much right to the road as any other road user.

If your rego plate was noted ... and a complaint to police was made ... that vid may be used against you in court (well done you for that ) It would not be the first time a "me doing dumb shit" type vid has come back to bite the poster in the bum.

So you passed a vehicle travelling at 40 kms/hr ... what was the speed limit there again ???

For the want of waiting a few minutes to pass safely on a straight piece of road ... what was your hurry ??? Leaning on the horn may have caused the cyclist to freeze .. and veer more into your path ... and at your speed ... the end result may have been a dam sight more serious.

You doing dumb shit and putting blame on somebody else ... and you bitch about ACC levies going up. I wonder if your vid attracts the attention of a popo that is familiar with the area (you wont be hard to find ) and sends you mail.

"A cynic would say the $500 plus a year rego gives motorcyclists more right to be on the road"

Who hasn't seen two abreast cyclist nattering away - (If they were cycling any slower they would fall off) up on the hills where its open speed limit ?

Anyone in a vehicle coming round a corner its just an accident waiting to happen, even if they been extra careful and traveling at 50 km/hr.

The hill and bay roads are to narrow for cyclists that do not travel at the speed of the Rest of the traffic that the speed limit is set for - period !

Save the bays for a motorbike, feet on the walking tracks or a boat.

No worries out Bottlelake for cyclists or cycle paths or if you really have to do it - Wide roads
