Good job, dopey fucken muckhole.
I certainly don't attend or watch motorcycle racing from ghoulish fascination with accidents. I would think that most watch out of awe, appreciation and respect for the skill of those who can ride so well. Last time at Hampton Downs was my first attendance at a race meeting for a long time and I struggled to get my head around the speed of the Supersports let alone the Superbikes!
I came away with a greatly enhanced respect for the riders! Yes, we do understand the risks and not all would agree it is worth it but only those who race can truly understand why they do it despite knowing the risks involved.
Like skydiving, deep water diving, speed skiing or numerous other sports few participate with a death wish and few attend or watch with a desire to see injury and death. IMHO..

I think she made some valid points in the article.
If nobody watches for the crashes then how come there are thousands of "worst motorcycle crash ever" videos on you tube ? (type "motor cycle crash death" in the search bar - first video up has had over 3 million views ?)
why do dozens of people rush to the spot where a crash happens (as at Pearoa last month when the swinger came off).
How many people in this forum watched the video of Simoncelli dying - after they knew he died and it was in reality a snuff movie ?
I obviously can't know what other racers think about the prospect of dying, but I suspect that most like me are in denial and just think "it won't happen to me".
I do it for the buzz - it is hard to find anything that can reproduce the feeling of riding as close to your limits as you dare - getting back to the pits and barely be able to pull your gloves off because of the adrenaline tremor.
Personally I don't care if spectators come to see the crashes - as long as they don't start squirting oil on the track to make them happen !
Oh and if I die doing something I love I hope it is having a good shag - not dicing for 20th place at a street race somewhere.![]()

I can be honest. I used to pick a spot to spectate, that would most likely give best vantage of crashes.
Attitude is funny ol' thing, and how it changes with age and perspective. I've raced a bit now, crashed a bit too. Had a couple mates die. I don't wanna see crashes, or injury. Yet I know it's a big part of the sport, and I still compete to fly in the face of that.
I doubt anyone can be summed up as simply as what's her face tried to put it. There are very complex motivations for all of us to do whatever we do, and a constant battle within to justify our enjoyment.

Not sure if my view is a general one but the pleasure & excitement I get from watching racing is the participants ability NOT to crash. The "OOhhhhhhhhh"" exclamations that everybody utters when somebody has a moment. Maybe that's why the TT is the race it is, the highest number of "OOhhhhhhhhhh's" per lap of any race but at a price. Pillorying MotoGp for the same reason is daft despite the fatalities.
Racing, if you don't like it don't watch.
I don't watch mountaineering as a spectator sport & it certainly does not make me go "oo.." etc. Admittedly golf would be more exciting if they used explosive balls.
And what makes you think we were selling anything there..?![]()

Three of my sponsored riders have crashed. I'd hate to think it had anything to do with the Shorai batteries... All reckon the batteries crash well though so if you have a propensity to fall down at least you know the battery will most likely survive intact.
But with four riders sponsored now I really can't afford any more.
