It honestly is best to ring them mate, you'll feel good about yourself and they will appreciate the honesty (bet ya they say keep a few extra bottles

...just cos you did the right thing)

What i do when the cops say "oooi you is that piss in that bottle" is I scull the whole lot and say "prove it pig", which usually results in a beating but they can't charge me without taking the bottle to the pigcomputer and doing a spectroalcoholograph analysis on it's arse.

It's interesting that you'd want to ask this Oakie.

To me it depends on the final outcome for you, not the wine company (or us). How will you feel if you don't own up? and How will you feel if you do?

Depending on what it will cost to return it ... they may just let you keep it.

With the person responsible for sending it ... having the costs already taken out of their severance pay.

I'd be guessing that the profit they can make from selling the additional 42 bottles will be well worth paying for return freight. Keen to see what they say now

Well I said at the start that the extra wine probably wouldn't taste as good as the stuff I'd paid for so I guess that's your answer.The funny thing is if someone asked me this question about themselves, the answer is obvious (1). It is just a little different when it is you that it's happened to and you stand to profit handsomely by someones error and not by a deliberate deception of your own. Temptation is a tricky bugger sometimes.

It's about $380 worth so I think it'll be worth their while arranging for a courier to come to mine and pick it up.

Not support. Just curious as to what others would do. You'll note in my original post that I asked "What would you do?", not "What should I do?" (although on reflection I guess I didn't word it that way in the poll questiion).
