haha gold, fat arse key board warriors....
rich coming from a someone with 5,000 posts lol
I like the gym but over priced and full of annoying grunters and mirror sluts.
much rather get out in the fresh air on the push bike, cardio, skipping and lil girly weights at home
Thats even richer from someone whos never met me I'd say... I hold my own.... :-)
Don't be too hard on the grunters and mirror sluts. If you are working hard enough you will grunt and sometimes you need the mirror to make sure you have it right (but I know what you mean)
Yep, I hit the gym 3 or 4 times a week, do mostly cross-fit training now. Have noticed a huge increase in my stamina when trail running etc. ever since I moved into cross-fit. Also do 3 or 4 hours of hand to hand combat training each week and usually a night a week I go for a bit of a run.

It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
Been weight-training for years. Decided a long time ago to be an old fit(tish) bastard, rather than an old fat (or frail) bastard. I seem to recall reading somewhere that frailty in old age can have a compounding effect on injuries.
It set(s) an example for my young'uns.
It certainly helps with motorcycling.
It gets more difficult as you get older (recovery time, and all that), but in some perverse way, I find that a good gym-session clears the mind in a way that motorcycling does.
I have the goal (after injuries and stuff), of benching, squatting and deadlifting (done) my body weight (or more) this year.
It would help if I drank a little less alcohol (not that I over-drink anyway), and ingested less dairy product.
But then, what would be the point...?
I bought myself enough weights to put together a couple sets of dumbells, a cheap bench from the warehouse and then made extensive use of this site.

I have found that I have had to buy more and more weights, To the point that they are now only held on the bar with half a turn of thread.
I ran into teh same issue with a home gym I bought, After a few short weeks I was lifting the entire stack, and having to do 80 reps.....
can only bench 140kg![]()
I have rats in my gym
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
The best gym is being active outdoors...you do not need to be pumping iron in a room to a) look like a machine or b) actually be a machine. In fact, half the muscle bound clowns that i see in the gym are reasonably unfit! That said, there is a lot to be said about the social side of belonging to a gym...I have made a few decent mates at the local gym.
