    What Wokken luck

Just heard a wee story from a mate, no, it's not a joke. A client of his was staying out of town with her partner when she was awoken by some noise outside, about 1am. She saw a car outside which somehow raised her suspicion so she phoned the police.
The feds managed to stop the car which was sign written with the details of a local takeaways, the driver was the owner of said takeaways. When the officer popped the boot guess what he found?

Yup, a big box of freshly collected road kill.

So if your favourite yummy scrummy takeaways in Whangarei is not open as usual think about why your sweet & sour pork tasted so damn good.

Makes sense now! I always wondered why takeaway meats were so tender... Naturally tenderised and aged!

Silly me, and all this while I actually believed that they did soak the meat in baking soda water to soften the cheap cut meat...

1970's...there was a saying in Rotorua (probably still said today) that we should go to Joes Dinner for a Jelli Burger.
That came about because a truck was seen unloading cans of Jellimeat behind the dinner at the time...

    Joes is still operating...

The establishment in question had council inspectors crawling all over it on Monday. Probably MAF, DoC & Fish & Game too.

Personally I quite like a bit of fresh road kill, got the saddle & back legs off a hare that nutted my Passat, much easier than tramping through the bush at night trying to shoot critters. That last bit could be misinterpreted.

Odd now that I think about it:
The happy stray cat that plays near my house has gone.
May's cafe in Eketahuna just got closed due to health concerns (place was shit anyway)

Bloody cats gettin' all the bone marrow!
I remember cat biscuits were quite the tasty snack when I was a little one.
    Now I know why I'm a pussy.

Many many years ago a mate came across a dead cat and placed it in a sack. persuaded me to go with him to the chinese takeaway in Manchester St just up from where Rolling Thunder are now in Christchurch. The shop was full and he tok this dead cat out of the sack and plonked it on the counter and said sorry only one cat tonight but you still owe me for the other 14 for this week.Everyone in the shop left and I have no idea what the chinese owner was saying as it wasnt in english but the arm movements suggested to me he wasnt happy

TBH I do not know the exact name or location of the shop. I was told but it went in one ear & out the other, I was so taken by the entrepreneurial audacity of the deed. I guess it happened Sunday or Monday night & the AOS piled in the following day. Keeping my eye on the local press for the horrific revelations from the freezer. A local restaurant was closed down recently for a few days because it was absolutely minging, that stayed under wraps. We shall see.

Maha, if you get stuck for Kai, try the top of the range Butch dog roll, needs a bit of salt but otherwise it's deli quality. Falls apart if you fry it too long, though. Delicious in a floury bap with a nice glass of Blue Nun.
