I would buy in NZ, but the jacket I'm after isn't available to the NZ market, not to mention when I ask around I get short replies saying "No, you can't get them in NZ" or "No, We are sorry but the jacket is at the moment completly not available from Dainese. At the moment we can't tell you a new delivery date."

    So I buy overseas.

Might be too deep for me? I'm aware of how the economy works, and I'll import stuff I can't get here.

I can see the attraction of buying from overseas for others as cash can be tight and you can get better bang for buck, if your employer pays shit you can't afford to buy NZ so it's a vicious cycle.
You can't expect the middle class to shell out big bucks for NZ products, when getting paid shit because our economy is shit because no one buys NZ products, somethings gotta give.

I know Dainese gear is expensive but aren't we being just a bit too theatrical with the argument that buying the jacket from overseas is going to start a recession.

On the Qmoto front, I'm assured they do good stuff and I don't have any reason to question it but it'd be reassuring if there was some evidence that i could see before I hit that patch of gravel and go cunt up and then it's my ass (literally) doing the quality testing.
Personally I plan on buying a well armored organ bag from them when my riding becomes more adventurous but that's because I'm the size of a malnourished rhino and motomail don't have an Alpinestars one in my dimensions that i can see let alone try on; so i'd much rather the made to measure option and know there won't be gaps between sleeves and gloves.

Man, KB threads have a tendency to derail fast, huh? I guess a forum's a forum though..

So in short, Dainese owners have nothing but praise, and people who don't own them don't want to find out. Appreciate the advice folks, off to buy a Dainese

The Dainese gear I have seen has been nothing but amazing. I just wish I had the budget for it.

Both the Alpine Stars and Spidi importers are based in the town where I live, all of which is of no particular advantage to me. Economically speaking I can't really understand the difference between them importing a jacket and me importing a Dainese.

And I do understand the product that I buy will not be the same as what Rossi wears: made to measure in Italy, kangaroo skin, waterproof, complete with airbag.
