    Oh I'll bite then. Because a DSLR makes it possible for anyone with half a brain and a slight eye for a photograph to take a decent photo. (I just know I'm going to regret this. It's like Guy Fawkes. 'Light fuse and stand well back.')

    Who says they think they are photographers ... just takin' pictures here bro ... put them in the holiday snaps album .. and besides digital is easier than the old SLRs or TLRs ...

    DSLRs are fantastic, but they're not within everybody's financial reach.

    Still, technology is such now that one can take really good pics without one of them.
    I have a Fujifilm Finepix S1500 I scored on Trademe for an hundred bucks, and I'm certainly no expert, but I got some shots I'm really happy with.

    I guess it depends on your personal level of expectation eh.
