He was apparently somewhat like the character Maturin, in the series, he was also a British inteligence agent in WW2. Worth reading the rest.

Noted, shall get back into those books sometime.

Also with the movie scenes, not really a scene, but a I find a very moving intro with it's score and background (the Bayeux tapestry), mainly due to being a Pom I guess lol.

How about this one. Each lap is about 3 minutes. Crazy and brave.

Good to see this thread resurrected. Some good recommendations and it seems to have stayed on track i.e. scenes that have powerful emotional/dramatic impact. Moments in a film that are burned into your memory. Not just great scenes for other reasons like great action, fighting, scenery, sex or whatever.

The end of Easy Rider, who could forget that moment.

This classic scene takes a lot of beating:

one of my favourite movie experiences ever was going to an afternoon session of APOCALYPSE NOW REDUX by myself with like three other people in the theatre. Fantastic flawed cinema.

That certainly stirred an emotional reaction and I'm now off to impact a 6 inch nail through a brick wall using nothing but my penis.
