104kph. Vehicles don't really go any faster on the roads. Some new fandangled rule of physics.

But I have it on good authority of the following:

    Bikes:

    ZXR250c: 195kph indicated.
    K10 GSXR 750: 289kph indicated.
    K5 GSXR 600: 278kph indicated.
    2011 CBR1000rr: 292kph indicated.

    Cars:

    1996 200sx track modified: 257kph.

I wont comment on whether any of the above where at the track, on closed roads at legitimate events or "other".

And I have been told that my 2007 Audi RS4 if de-limited (255kph limiter) will touch 300kph on a long straight road. Not keen to try that one. Too expensive if things go pop.

In all seriousness, these days I think that doing warp speed on the road is retarded and for idiots. It's closed roads and trackdays for me these days. It's not the killing myself bit I am worried about, but a bike at 200kph through the side of a car is going to do some serious damage to the car occupants and I want no part in being responsible for the death of someones loved one. Traveling at high speed is a whole lot of fun, but time/place and all that. In any case, I much prefer a remote winding road for a bit of fun.

If you haven't been 150kph on a suburban street, you don't deserve a licence...

I may have inadvertently allowed the speedo to creep up perhaps as high as 109kph on my way home from Auckland.
This is no idle boast, it's just possible I will be able to obtain photographic evidence in support of this claim.
Of course it's also possible that the traffic that was temporarily obstructing my progress at the time may also be in the picture which will spoil it.
    I hope!

240kph on my RZ500 going north down the Bombay hills. Flat on the tank and was flat out, wouldn't go any faster.
250kph on my 1987 GSXR1100 between Hamilton and Auckland.
Both are indicated, both really early Sunday mornings, both (looking back) really stupid and both many, many moons ago.

Sadly my speedo only shows 100km/h. Boring life that it is. Oh to be able to reach the velocity of 105km/h.

An interesting experiment would be to see if all speedo's were made to say only read up to 120kph if many people would still feel the need to see how high (kph) they can go. I would hazard a guess that many people's ego's center around being able to say I have gone 'X' fast. Take away the measuring stick and I would guess many people would lose interest in seeing how fast they can go with nothing to gauge it by.
