Nope. It's been raining past couple days and I've been working. Will try in the next week.

And sheesh wasn't asking anyone if I should do it, I've already decided I will, just need the time/space. Chill...

You prove the point that burnouts are just for bogans.

My sense of mechanical sympathy says forget the burnout - just replace the tyre.

My GSXR can handle it. All I have to do is flick the fan switch.

I suppose it depends on who you're prepared to listen to regarding the sensibility of the idea.

I doubt that very many mechanics would advise you that it's a great idea.

Those that are encouraging you to do it either have no clue of what it could potentially do to your motor or are secretly hoping that it goes tits up. Everyone loves a fail story after all.

I remember that happening to me one night at the skids. I had to climb out the drivers window. I wasn't driving though. It was a good night, and I got a free ride back to my mates place in a Commodore with those flashing lights on the roof.
Did it leave you moist, and did your mate get a root out of it?

Forgetting the question of the burn for a moment....just revving your engine at closing on red line without the motor having a normal load applied - by way of rider riding the bike on the road - will potentially do terminal damage to your engine internals. Without the workload - the engine is actually working far harder than the number on the tacho would have you believe - if it were being ridden.

Skid marks!...best left in the toilet!

...good to see so many on here that just have to much respect for there ride's to thrash the shit out of them, and leave them covered in molten rubber (The youtube Vids PROVE what type of people treat bikes like that!)

ps...for the record...I actually like doing burnouts!...just not on my own bike! (I just couldn't do that to her)

I'm not worried about the sensibility because it's not. Sensible that is. I also couldn't imagine any mechanic that would think it a good idea. I'm sure more people would do them if they weren't scared they'd blow something up!

I'm not a hoon. But I don't see why I can't try something, even if once, if I want to.

I don't even have a rev counter anyways so who the fuck knows where it's at?!

Depends how hard you do them, certainly the odd little squeally on mine doesn't stress anything to the max except grip. I would go until blowout due to the heat, but as I said, it isn't the clutch/gearbox etc many nanas on here are concerned about.

Not just for bogans, we're happy to share

And with that, it is time for my favourite youtube video...

So don't do it at redline if close to redline was so much more likely to grenade your engine, then chances are they'd move the redline lower.

Stop with the scaremongering you pussies, bosslady, be prepared to clean out some rubber from the guards etc, and if you're going for a long one, don't let it get too hot.
