I do them all the time on the DR in the garage, but I hate that bike and spend as much time as I can trying to kill it. Its a stubborn little shit.
I even rode it off a big rock and over a bank on the weekend, and the fuckers still going. Hurt me more than the bike.

What the fuck is your problem dude? I don't give a shit what you think, you're like a bad smell that keeps hanging around. On block you go.

But I bet it hasn't got a road tyre designed for maximum grip on it.

If she had max grip she wouldn't be wanting to get a new tyre?

Tyres are generally replaced because the tread depth goes below a minimum measurement - not because they have less grip (on a dry road).

Slicks generally provide more grip than treaded tyres.

So it's better doing skids on slicks because the engine is under load?

You do realise the DR is an engine that was built with low speed thrashing in mind. On a trail ride it could see high revs most of the time and never get over 40km/h.

I've seen speedway bikes doing 2+ minute burnouts til the tire popped, then out racing the next meeting without even looking at a valve. That has been 500cc singles and 1000cc multis. I've never heard of a bike blowing up doing burnouts.

The only time an engine/clutch/gearbox is at any heightened rate of stress is starting the burnout, if the rider rides the clutch or doesn't get the weight off the rear tire and it bites.

Bosslady, since it's your cherry popping time, you could get someone to hold/lift the rear of the bike to help get it started then smile for the camera.

There's a nice car park down in taupo to do phat skids on, outside the bike shop.

Nope a fairly well worn knobblie on a super smooth concrete floor that has many years of oil spills and other slippery shit, you could do a burnout on that floor on a pushbike, if you weren't a smoker.

And what exactly are your mechanical credentials?

Ok bosslady heres something you don't apear to have thought out.
Your tyre is now worn out so fairly close to needing replacing. You do a big ol burnout and rip the tyre down to canvas.
How are you planning on getting the bike from where you do the burnout to home and then to the tyre shop?
Thats why I'd say if you have to do it --do it at the tyre shop

Rotflmao-Yea well it should have been a full roundell if I hadnt totally destroyed the clutch--but hey not a bad effort given it was a shaft drive 40hp commuter bike with over 100k on the clock
