    *UPDATE*

I have just been advised by one of the organisers from the day that a further decision is pending on either prize money or a partial entry refund. This has to go though a committee process so is not instantaneous, but they are certainly considering the outcome being different from what it is now.

Hmm...That is not my understanding of the events that year, are you certain RE: outstanding prize money to the family? That situation was certainly very different to this years one.

That's good to hear. Thanks for that.

Yes it was a different set of circumstances and some one else may be able to confirm but I am 99.9% certain the family never received a cent. I stood up and delivered a eulogy at Alans funeral and I was pretty cut up about it on the day.

I must be getting old/alziemers...All the sidecar guys including me donated OUR winnings from the first race to the Satherley family. Still doesn't change the rank attitude by Paeroa PromotionsTrust though )-:

One person not racing in this year's battle of the streets is last year's winner Patric Nussbaum and his Black Pearl Kawasaki ZX10. Patric is the first winner in the history of the Battle of The Streets to be given a life ban after celebrating his 2013 win with a wheel stand on the run to the line. His supporters are campaigning to have the decision overturned, seeking likes on the Patric Nussbaum Facebook page, saying the decision is harsh, unfair and completely unnecessary. His supporters have a tent at the end of the back straight on the embankment, and there are T-shirts. - See more at: http://www.sunlive.co.nz/news/64522-....lREKTtqu.dpuf

What's wrong with this country. Banning a rider because he wheelstands WTF ?

Any race meeting that has this type of attitude deserves to go down the gurgler IMO.

I wondered if the rider that did a burnout on the start/finish line during the closing parade ended up getting a banning as well

All race meetings have rules about doing wheelies. However, that's the first time I know of where they've handed out a life time ban.

I was recently contacted by the organiser of the recent MV Augusta Classic race day at Taupo asking for sponsorship money for the individual races.

I asked him how much of the money would be going to the competitors as prize money.

I was told that none of it was going to the competitors. Apparently it's costs a fortune to host these meetings.

I politely told him to fuck off.

Why? The victory wheelie over the line was part and parcel of the sport for years?

Why don't you ask the people that implemented the rule. No doubt it was something to do with safety.
