I was reasonably fit until I had my crash which caused me to get a little tubby.
In the past 12 months I have worked my ass off (literally according to my wife) to get myself back in shape. Gym most days, running our river track (7km) other days, eating properly (gone from 3 sugars in coffee to none) and cut back on the portions. I have lost 14kg in the past 9 months, feel fantastic and am even doing the 5 bridges run in the Hutt this Sunday.
It has taken bloody hard work and determination but the effect has been worth every drop of sweat.
If you are what you eat, then I'm fast, cheap and easy
I have a gas axe and a welder! What do you mean "it won't fit"?
Here's a good tip for reducing sugar in coffee.
Take a sip of it first without sugar, then add sugar. the bitterness you taste will mean that a lot less sugar is required for it to taste "sweet". try it: you will at least halve the amount you put in.

Not very fit as I found out today.
Hanging on the end of a chainsaw and dragging trees out from the back of the section, cutting them into firewood and then walking up to the house to stack said firewood, I now realise that my physical condition is crap. Worringly so if I am to be honest.
What the fuck has happened to fit strong Woodman.![]()
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
If you want to get fit, and paid $30 an hour to do it, get a job as a woolpresser.![]()

I'm reasonably happy with my current level of strength & fitness. Not how I used to be 24 months ago (Superfit - sprints, long run, weight session/free weight session 6 days a week, total about 3 hrs per day). Currently I go to the gym 4-5 days a week where I do mostly exercises like chin ups/pull ups, kettle bell training, push ups, core work and some weight work, I also try and do some sprints every now and again for that anaerobic type training. I also train in CQC/ Military hand to hand combat twice a week which often can be quite intense and exhausting.
Currently 6ft 3 (not that that will change) and 101kg, approximately 14% body fat...I eat whatever I like
Some of my goals to achieve by the end of this year:
1) to be able to run 2400m sub 8 mins 45 seconds, currently just on 10 mins.
2) chin ups neutral grip - 40 in first set followed by 5 sets of 10 reps. Currently can do 25 per set with 8 sets of 6/4 to follow.
3) 100x push ups in one set - currently can do about 60 in a set.
Biggest challenge is finding the time to train now with a young family, 2 businesses to run and completing some further tertiary studies. But...if it were easy....
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
I picked MMA since it seemed like fun. learn heaps every night, boxing, kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling etc etc, very dynamic. have fun, meet new folks, and you get some awesome opportunities. Good stress relief wen you train for a fight too.
ha yes, Tyson was right, getting punched / kicked / elbowed in the face makes you re-think your plan pretty fast. always have a plan B, C, D etc.
will catch up and talk about it. its actually pretty fuckin cheap too![]()
Yep when dropping sugar breakfast is the hardest. Eggs on toast alone won't get you very far. I have porridge and substitute the sugar with mashed banana - a 1/4 banana is about the equivalent of 1 tsp sugar, the browner the better. Then I have a plate of bacon, eggs, kumara and veges!
I find swinging keeps me on my toes... well, knees actually.
Nothing better to get the heart pumping then to climb across someones back while whipping into it. Hold on bronco!!
The great thing about swinging is you get to have different partners if you're so inclinedThat really gives your muscles a stretching.
Sometimes I've swung with 2 strangers in the one session. Earn your sweat there![]()
