Beheading has only become suddenly horrific to us since it's been thrust in our faces.

I'm currently reading about Algeria's civil war during the mid 90's. (A conflict that happened well within easy memory but how many of us remember, or even heard, anything about it?). More than 10,000 died exactly like that - without the fanfare of getting to publicly appeal to family or politician.

The Middle East is a shit hole. We should leave them to it. As harsh as it sounds, it sometimes sucks to be certain people.

Thankfully as oil becomes less of a desirable commodity we may well one day see the West lose it's fascination with the Middle East.

Mainly the overwhelming bias and regurgitated rhetoric....

The most frustrating part is that the article raises valid points - compromising freedom for security is a very slippery slope and any changes to the current balance must be debated at length as opposed to a knee jerk reaction.
