R.I.P. Westie. Gone too soon. He was funny as fuck. had the pleasure of meeting him on few occasions through friends.

Very surprising news! He was a good comedian and bloke, he was the celebrant of my cousins wedding. Always enjoyed watching him on tv

A sad loss to NZ comedy and a great colourful character gone way too soon.

A mate was saying he was the celebrant at a wedding he went to as well, did a bloody good job by the sounds of it

Seen him live a heap of times over the years, was one of my favourites

Yes a sad loss to NZ comedy indeed. A close friend of my brothers whom he worked along side for many years. I know everyone in the NZ comedy scene today has been hit hard by this in shock, and many are gathering at the Classic all day to be with their mad "family away from family".

I rang this mad bugger out of the blue a few years ago.
    Put a question to him.
He answered my question with a statement, "you tell me where and when I'll be there as long as you want, as often as you want"
It was bike related and it involved having him MC a gathering and supporting our cause.
Never once didn't answer my calls and was the most amazingly intuitive bloke I've ever had the pleasure of talking to. We never actually met face to face but Ewen knew who I was immediately he heard me speak
The event never happened, sadly. but it was Ewen who volunteered his time and his skills to help a bunch of broken arsed bikers get something done without a seconds hesitation.
You will be missed by most New Zealanders mate, RIP. and thanks for the good times, the hard times and the bloody funny times.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

He had been away for some time years ago and upon his return, he was doing a stand up routine and said '' I just got back from overseas and discovered my breeding pair of painted apple moth had escaped'' most will remember the significance of that. His humour did not need to profanity that other so called comedians rely heavily on.
