Quite correct. That list is made up from some dubious gathering of data, presumably from Bob and Janet at the retirement village where the audience isn't physically able to get up and change the channel even if they wanted to.

As you quite rightly say, who else is left to turn to? Certainly not 7 Blunt with its vacuous drivel.

Why bother with TVNZ's and Media Works pathetic offerings and loooong add breaks when you can watch the BBC.

You need 'Global Mode' which said dinosaur TV companies are trying to shut down.

Was about ten years ago and quite a hefty paper survey form would arrive in mail for him often. I guess its probably online these days, but really how many normal people would have the time or be bothered to do it...
A lot of viewing data is remotely collected these days via sky etc, they 'know' what people are watching.

BTW had a hot date last night, when she said she loved watching Campbell live I knew it was all over... screw you JC LOL....
They can tell that a person is in front of the tv when it's on?

Well, that certainly would be an advantage!

Perhaps like Saul's brother in "Better call Saul"?

Once ratings are done by asking large groups of people to keep a media diary - write down, every 15 minutes, what TV programme, radio station etc they are listening to, watching or reading. It's done over a two or three week period ...

Now volunteers agree to have a monitoring device attached to their TV so Neilson can see what they are watching ... (I haven't worked in the media for a while so I'm not sure in Nielson in God-zone us media diaries or monitoring boxes)

This gives the ratings company a reasonably accurate picture - so long as the people in the survey are honest, and that the groups are reasonably representative ...

Nothing's perfect - I'm not supporting/not supporting the system - just saying how it works ..
