I was going to comment that it was the water reservoir for the radiator. The VW Beetle is air cooled, so that would have been very silly.

As I said - it is a perfectly valid demonstration of Metal Strength when exposed to heat. You will note he makes no other claims - just merely pointing out that numerous people (Yourself included) keep repeating the same, easily disproved BS about steel and how it behaves when heated.

(Let's leave out the fact that he states jet fuel burns at 1500C but chooses to heat his steel rod to 1800C instead).
You seem to have forgotten that a large percentage of the jet fuel ignited and burnt off in the initial fireball. (After all, what did you think that big orange ball was - Scotch mist?)
You also seem to have forgotten that within an hour the area of impact was at a temperature that would allow people to stand and wave without spontaneously combusting.
And even if the area of impact was heated to 1500C for a short while, do you really think that the building's structure 50 floors below got to anywhere near that temperature?
