The first 6 Hour was a great day. All the fun of an endurance race without somebody having to put up their own bike for 2 other guys to crash. With everyone riding their own machinery there were very few crashes. Except for those 2 idiots at turn 2-3 that got to test out the transponder retrieval drone. Expensive day for those two. We made it through the day even though we had to do it 2 man instead of 3.

I think I agree with Drew on this one (is that bad?)

It needs a different title from the original 6 Hour.

This swap and tag ya mate thing is kind of like many of my time restraint rides of late - 30 minutes on fine open road roads and bends, a quick coffee and chat with other motorcyclists on a similar mission then a faster 25 minutes back due to the coffee fueling my blood.

you sound like my mate, he said the other night when we'd had a few, "I think I'll call it a night", dunno what was in his head as it was called a night fuck nose how long ago, how can he lay claim to that?

I see what you did there .

A mate nearly won the first Aussie one 1970 (Craig brown CB750).
Pic shows Craig wishing his brakes had lasted.
Len Atlee on a Bonny won it.

I'll concede the valid point about the title of the event, it's just semantically wrong.
Guess it should have been called "The 2hr x 3 rider x 3 bike pseudo endurance race for track day riders, over the hill cunts, wannabes and dick heads just wanting to have fun"
That at least would have clarified it and all the really serious 'commentators' would have felt justified with a "pffffttt ... fuck that poofter thing" type of dismissal.

Then they could wait for the next really serious and proper 6 hr endurance race to miraculously get organised by some poor saps with the unfortunate "If we keep doing the same thing the same way we might get a different outcome" syndrome.

I was gonna compete ya tard. Booked an engine rebuild, suspension upgrades and all.

I'm not sure what happened back in the day to the proper six hour, but I don't think it would have made any difference to run it the way it is now.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why a proper 6hr is impossible to keep going here ... $$$$$$$$
New engines, multiple tyres blah blah

At least this format is actually attracting lot's of entries.

It doesn't take more tyres than three bikes use. I was gonna do my motor up because it's done 98,000k's. A modern bike shouldn't need fuck all.

What's 'lots of entries'. Please decide total entries by three for fare comparison.

Yeah, and three people to contribute to the running costs of one bike, instead of three bikes.
So in the current format you're guaranteed to Fuck a minimum of six tyres nine sets of brake pads & three engines.
    People are so gullible.

Another little point ... I only personally know a few track day riders but out of that tiny circle 3 of them have got their MNZ licenses (and joined clubs) to compete.
Multiply that by all the other entries and it's a nice boost to those organisations.
Hat's off to the 'Playday' team for that.

    You mean track day heroes?
The types that love to brag about doing a six hour in all their flash matching gear, when they didn't really?

2 hrs isn't going to fuck an engine ... that's part of the point.

Fuck it ... I'm only a competitor in this and an old one at that.
I'm just trying to defend a pretty good concept being organised by people I barely know but who seem committed to the motorcycle sporting scene.

I have no figures to quote Drew .... just using a bit of common sense to draw conclusions and voice an opinion.

    Over and out.

    .
Really, how many race engines do you run to know that?
I don't rebuild any of mine after six hours of use either.
Engines are like a piece of string, they could go for half an hour, or twenty years. That's why Drew & I were going to get one gone through professionally prior.

Perhaps I should word things a little more diplomatically so as to to inflict butthurt.

I would like very much if this event was correctly named, and the format clearly laid out. So people like myself and Sidecar bob who want to do an actual six hour race, don't get all enthusiastic and very nearly she'll out to prep a motor and bike.

To anyone entered the relay format, have fun. You were very close to competing in an endurance race.
