The Hondas are dominant atm (FP2) with DP without winglets like last week and MM using minimal ones.
Overnight the big topic was the FIM stewards' announcement that in future riders making obscene gestures will be fined. This in reaction to Rossi giving the finger to ESA for riding slower - if not actually slow - on the racing line last time out.
There followed photos of Schwantz, Rainey, Sheene, et al showing the finger.
The announcement was greeted with universal opprobrium: these guys are racers, the fans are not delicate, don't make it like F1, etc. All of which prompted someone to ask how it is then that half the riders have a princess complex? Problem with that is, while we may all agree with the sentiment there would be no agreement as to which half.
And if Marquez was going to put on a skirt and hold an umbrella it would be for Lorenzo not Pedrosa.![]()

FP3 was certainly an odd and scarey one. A couple of potentially nasty incidents (never seen clutch plates flying around like that).
My prediction is... No Ducati on the podium. Other than that, any of six or more depending on weather..

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..
well despite the on line sky guide not listing qualifying it was actually on.Despite MM domination of fp4 and Qualifying he didnt look as ragged as normal.
He was using the hard front tyre,he has reservations about wether that tyre will be suitable if conditions are cooler for the race. The track temperature was about 40 deg.
Dovi for the win...
But, frankly I think Marquez has been so good since Friday it will be his race.

OK, I let the sentimentality of the situation impress me overmuch. On the other hand the last time Hayden was on a factory Honda with Michelins he was World Champ.
The FIM need to look at themselves. The situation regarding "derogatory gestures" has descended into farce. Originally it was stated by all and sundry that there were to be fines for giving the finger. Later it was widely reported that was an error, there were to be no fines, the riders had just received a letter asking them to play nice. One rider had got his wires crossed they said. Never listen to a rider they said.
This morning there has been posted on Twitter a letter to one Nicolo Bulega from the FIM Stewards advising him that he contravened the new rule regarding derogatory gestures and has accordingly been fined 300 euros.
Sorry I can't remember who, but there was a rider crashed in practice at Aragon, ESA? Petrucci? He reportedly couldn't remember the crash, may not have been all that sure where he was, but he was permitted to take the track again. If that's true that's just not acceptable. IIRC in WSBK if the helmet shows signs of impact there is no further riding permitted. MotoGP should take a leaf out of that book.
It was Petrucci: "I was conscious but didn't remember where I was. I went back out and (still) didn't remember where I was. I was scared." WTF?
