    I was there.
You can see me and Kev Turley walking around the 500 grid (you can pick Turls coz he has a red Line 7 jacket on).
Paul Treacy asked us what the fuck we were doing there, we said "just lookin'..."

89 is Gardiner's "best win" he said.

Sometime I'm amazed at how a T-Rexes arms can operate a computer keyboard.

    Old farts.

Bet the 2 stroke smoke was very aromatic though

Was it 1989 P.I. when Donna ran up the track towards Gardner waving her arms, in heels and a little black number ?

1990 he did it again, finishing with the Fairing flapping ? ....

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

I can't remember whether it was 89 or 90 but the race was live on TV with the lead constantly changing. After the race the NZ TV announcer commented that there were not many occasions Kiwis would be cheering on an Australian. That was one.

    Both those races were fantastic.
Just listened to Rustys Garage podcast Pritch listed a few pages back and Gardiner talks of both. Interesting. Backstory.

They sure were. The race where Gardner's fairing came lose was especially incredible for me. I cannot recall another race where a rider grabbed a bike by the bars and said No mother fucker, you will finish this race and finish first as he literally threw it across the finish line - WOW

Crafer beating Doohan at Donnington was pretty special for Kiwis. A short while later at Philip Island I witnessed Crafer on a drying track dig in and come through to try chase Doohan down.

Doohan then displayed why he was actually the master and started to match his times. On that screamer you could just hear it lighting up coming out of the bottom of Lukey Heights and for like the rest of the way to next corner. Truly impressive.
