    Talking Interesting...

Now as you all know I am not a Police basher but here is something that happened about 20 minutes ago.

Was in New World, noticed a non-permitted car in a Disability Space. So I waited for about 15 minutes.

There was Police identity card hanging from the mirror....mmmm, I thought.

A couple with 2 kids approach the car...I asked the guy whether he was a Police Officer, he pointed to his partner so I asked if she was a Police Office and she said yes.

I pointed out that she was parked in a disability bay etc, she was indifferent a and when I told her I had her number and would report her she said she was not bothered.

When I asked her whether she knew she had parked in a Disabled bay she actually admitted she knew...didn't even have the bits to say it was dark etc.

So called Takapuna Police, gave them details. I was given the option to make an official complaint or did I want them just to have a word. I went for the latter cause all I aim to do is make a point

Anyway, 5 minutes later (the sargeant must have known her) he calls back, says he has had a word with her and she has passed on her apologies.

Not impressed with her but good on the Police Sargeant for taking action.

She obviously did not take me seriously......was probably surprised to get a call from the Sargeant eh?..........

Went to a car show in the weekend up at the TSB stadium with Nadroj. Got up there, parked in one of the 5 disabled parks and believe it or not, 3 of them had vehicles parked without the disability card displayed. Now I was not very impressed at that stage and the evo in frount of me looked like it needed its tyres deflated. Now fortunately for me Nadroj suggested that we go into the show and if the evo was still there, then have a crack at it. Turned out that the problem vehicles where all from a trade stand just inside the main door. So I went over to them to see what the story was. The two people that I talked to, that had their vehicles in the disabled parks, the third one had since left. Well their attitude was applalling. Their answer was that there was still two parks left so they did not see the problem. I then told them that at least I'm not a retard like them, just only a cripple. The lady immediately got quite shitty, stating that she was not interested in being abused. I told her that I was not interested in their unnacptable behaviour and attitudes. Funny thing is that I suspect that she got upset because at the end of the day the truth hurts. I then offerred to ring for a tow truck and get the offending vehicles removed. She told me to do it and she could not care less. Now as it turned out Nadroj knows the event organiser quite well and just after he payed for us to get in, the bloke just happened to be walking out as we was going in. Nadroj had a quick word with him and he had a quick word with me. Well we went on in, had a bloody good look around. Which I might add, the show was not that impressive in my opinion, probably because there was no bikes. As we went out I realised that I'd left my durries at home and it sure explained why I was a tad pissy. Well I guess the event organiser had an effective talk with the people involved, because they had gone and also taken their vehicles with them. I suspect that to this day they still believe that they had done nothing wrong. However getting the right person to talk to them appeared to be very effective. Like I said, it was a trade stand and after having to put up with their bullshit attitudes I'm buggered if I'd ever consider buying anything from them. Not a good way to make new customers. I wonder why they even bothered attending the show...
As it turned out the most interesting thing to look at was parked on the footpath next to my car. A brand new Ducato 1098. Spent a fair bit of time looking at it. It was a beauty and I'm sure if I could ride it I'd be able to get myself into alot of trouble with the local cuntstabirally.

And what is worse they were giving their Battidude to a guy in a wheelchair....no f%^&ing respect eh.

Yep I normally get abused......and get the same responses like you mentioned......they should expect to get some abuse when they have abused the rights of disabled people.....ggrrrrr

I am looking at a sign to glue on cars windows now......"I illegally parked in a disabled parking space".....

I'm certian they only get upset really because they have both been bailed up by someone in a wheelchair and also that the truth does hurt. I think sometimes that they expect someone in a wheelchair not to be assertive and they feel like they can do the bullying shit. Thats the sort of opening I truely like, they tend to get it both barrels, but appropriately and effectively. If the are dumb enough to try to make it physical they just might find out how much the removeable handles on my wheelchair, be good to know myself really.

I did not actually think that you worked the weekend to be honest. If I thought you would have turned up and issued tickets I would definitely have done so.

Seen them used here! I was going to get some made but wasn't sure where to get them or how much it was going to cost and I had been on an Invalid's Benefit for several years, so had to watch the pennies.

When I was in the chair I used to get very peeved and usually reported them. The local Cops were always sympathetic to the situation and would send a letter to the offender. I think quite a few drivers got letters.... Even now, I get annoyed when I see cars without cards parked in the parks and always check to see if they have a card on display.

I guess only those who are or have been disabled can truly appreciate how important the parks are.

Pretty shit the way that these people(pricks who aren't disabled) take up these yellow car parks tho.

You just cannot make that assumption.

Good post. You raise some valid points that I hadn't really considered before.

Mrs T's mum has been disabled for years and they (Ma et Pa) have one of those stickers on their car. They find this is a common occurance. That bloody stupid cow, who happens to have a job in the police, should have been smarter. I guess it wasn't an accident that she was parked there sporting her police ID, so therefore it it was an intentional violation with possible consequences that she obviously believed she was immune to. I'd have put in the formal complaint.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!
