    Deano @ VMCC Round 3

After a week of crappy sleep I was looking forward to an early night on Friday so I would be primed and ready to go early Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, Limbimtimwim's RVF needed some work to bring it up to race spec which we didn't finish until about 11.30pm.

Anyway, woke up at 5.15am Sat morning and packed the car etc.

Arrived at the track during rider's briefing - as it was Simon's first time racing he went to have a listen while I unloaded the bikes and gear.

Qualifying was sloooooow being on a wet track - about 10 seconds off normal pace - I didn't push too hard and as a result didn't have any slides - felt the need to HTFU actually as you don't know how close to the limit you are unless you cross it occasionally. Qualified 5th overall.

Post classic Jnr - First race and I got a great start into about 4th place (incl senior bikes). Paul Brigham had a problem off the line from pole, but when he got going again, he came past me on the middle straight....talk about a speed differential.....I think I nearly got sucked under his bike.

I chased Chris Sales hard but wasn't able to get close enough to try and pass so held onto 2nd place.

Race two - Chased Jarrod Wintle and Chris Sales around the whole race - 3rd.

Race 3 - Thought it might come down to Chris, Jarrod and I battling for top 3 places, but I found myself in 4th - in first place was Warren Marsh on this loud thumping Manx Norton - must be a 500cc as he was in Jnr also.
That thing had some awesome low/mid range punch, and he won race 3.

After last season I am totally stoked to be mixing it up with Jarrod at the pointy end of the field.

F3 - qualified 5th again - the wet track must have held up a few of the faster bikes (SV's) or riders who don't like the wet much as I've never qualified this high up before.

Race 1 - qualifying time went out the window as the SV's just came blasting past off the line. My good mate Drew decided he would 'buzz' me in the middle straight when he came past - could you have gotten any closer bro ?

I had a good battle with Jarrod and AJ Chappell - I tried to outbrake AJ into coke and totally stuffed it up and he came back up the inside. I then managed to pass him on the front straight after getting a good drive out of the sweeper.

Race 2 - The front row all jumped the start, although the flag waver was a little 'deceptive'. Perhaps they should have all gone to the back of the field for the restart ?

I missed race 3 - a bike was in the infield which I thought the officals would collect, but no. No worries - F3 is just for fun. PC Jnr is the serious stuff and I'm sitting in 3rd place overall so far so happy with that. I am taking a leaf out of Drew's book though and aiming high, so watch out Jarrod and Chris.......

Thanks heaps to Nikki (lunch, footage and warmers), Drew (getting trailer ready), Mikey and Skelstar (warmers and stands), and TSS Motorcycles.

    A rice paper maybe. LOL

It was in qualifying wasn't it - silly me was wondering how I got in front.

Honestly, my brain is mush on race days. One 'track' mind.......groan.

One of the highlights of my day was you hot on the tail of someone else blasting past me on the sweeper, as ya lapped me, that was bloody scary but shitloads of fun!

Always fast and consistant. I'm expecting even bigger things on the long track as it should suit your bike and the SVs will have even less of an advantage.

Step up with the big boys ya reckon ?....I'm keen as but there's two issues:

It might expose my lack of talent on a 'real' bike, (not that I don't love the 4 hundy and no disrespect to small bike racers),

and due to the extra costs of running a 600............anyone want to sponsor me ?

A wise (and older man) once told me "if you don't back yourself, no-one else will."

Hang on, you haven't been given a free bike yet?
