well i found this website http://www.atwf.co.nz/contact.html so i called them up, they immediatly took my number and called me back which i thought was pretty good of them!

anyway, i spoke to a guy called troy, (he told me to give his number if you want to call him, auckland prefix 2750409 ext 200) and he was very helpfull.

i asked for a rough price for taking 10 bikes and this is what he told me: the bikes will need to be crated (go to a dealer and ask them for the crates coz they throw them out otherwise, his words), a group "carnet" will cost about 450 bucks total, container hire is approx 2000 bucks, handling in oz will be 1000 - 1200 bucks. same price for the container to return (another 2000 bucks) and handling in NZ will be about 800 bucks.

we will need to send the bikes there approximatly 3 weeks before we will get there.

so we can send 10 bikes there for approximatly 6000 bucks. we might beable to get another 1 or 2 in on that price but im not sure.
i wouldnt want to be caught dead in the same grave as me.

Go to a friendly Harley dealer. There plinth is steel and we found them excellent. Better than the bikes they once carried

If you check out my earlier posting you can get Carnet details and Download the form.

BTW We found that it was desirable to have the bikes not fully enclosed as that was welcomed by the Oz inspectors.

Best of luck to her!! You guys will miss her heaps.
We will prolly have to content ourselves with local stuff...might be really lucky and be able to afford to ride outside the Bay occasionally....

Not until the local clan gets together to help hXc do some fundraising for his trip , then the folks can save some coin and join us

I don't think that if we are using a container that they need to crated as well?

Here is the proof. Nice bikes too

Looks like shipping is going to be around $2500 with rego etc.
Looks like you could hire for the same or similar amount.

More ideas people. Pack our own container? Anyone priced the cost of shipping a box?
Ill get back to you early next week with prices.

So that's only $600 per bike with 10 bikes? Thats a very good price. I will contact my insurance compony and ask about insurance to ride in OZ and cover the bike while it is on the water. I will ask a friend what it cost to register a bike in OZ for 12 months. What else do we need to price? Service the bikes here before they are packed. Put in a spare filter and buy oil on the ride to service as needed. Fit new rubber before we leave. Looking like a good option. Well done Lee.

You can ride on your NZ rego & warrant.

Keep your most recent rego receipt (& warrant receipt) and produce that. The label is not enough??

    Thanks for that.

But you have to have third party insurance in QL I hear. Hence the rego.
Lots of problem with taking a bike that I have been told about today.
I will post them when I get time. Need sleep
    Cheers
