Where's the option for "I preferred the book by Herbert George Wells"?

    Same with "the Time Machine"

Damn good Sci-fi Author...well ahead of his time.

We have the LP, CD and remastered CD of the Jeff Wayne Version and also the radio version by Orson Wells. Are we sad!!!! Didn't see the movie as it had crap reviews. I can't wait for the animated movie version that Jeff Wayne is bringing out later this year.

Hey, great memories here. Used to have the original LP but it deteriated with time, and overplay. I managed to replace it with the CD a while back and still enjoy it occasionally.
and have often wondered how it would go as a stage show using Pink Floyds lighting engineers.

Had the Double Tape Pack edition, loved it, great music.

But then after having the tapes for 10 years or so my mate remembered who had them and claimed them back.

I have the Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds, on LP.
    Still sealed, never opened.

Had the tape edition when I was a kid (must be around here somewhere), and I have them as mp3s as well.

Have to admit, I've got it on LP too, the Jeff Wayne one! With Richard Burton as the narrator - ooh, he did sound very sexy for (even then) an old bloke!)
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

I though my mate was a gimp when he bought the LP days after it being first released. Trouble is that after enduring it for a couple of times it kind-ov snuck under my skin. Could almost qualify as a guilty pleasure. Almost.
Book and orig. film frightened the life out of me as a kid.

I prefer the book, and I have the radio recordings around on mp3 somewhere. There's no escaping it as it seems to be a compulsory part of media studies curriculum anywhere on the planet.

All of Wells' sci fi books make excellent reading, in my opinion. I just finished listening to the a reading of the Invisible Man (audiobooks keep me sane at work) and was surprised at how much of the complexity was lost on me when I read it as a kid.

The Tom Cruise movie sucked giant hairy donkey balls. We didn't even get the gratification of seeing the leading characters being brutally murdered at the end, which is the only appropriate way to end a movie where the characters are all so dreadfully annoying. Tom Cruise looked too smug. Dakota Fanning just wouldn't stfu. Glad I wasn't the one to pay for the tickets

I have the original movie on DVD, as special features it has the Orson Welles radio version too. Both brilliant.

I saw the Tom Cruise version at the movies and didnt think much of it. Especially his son surviving, utter rubbish.

Would love to see the musical but im already in Auckland twice in a month
