A big thanks to the farmer that helped with all the bin bikes, and his wife makes good coffee, it was a good ride up to that evil part of the road.
A few things to learn from today.
1/ Way pointers - please wait IN FRONT of the the junction directing the ride. (leaders can help by being very specific with their pointing!)
2/ When there's a bin park in a visible place or even better off the road altogether.
3/ Again when there's a bin have riders placed a good 50m and 100m before the site of the accident to slow the traffic down.
Apart from that - It was a good ride for most - some people rode further than othersand glad that the bins only resulted in flesh wounds and some bent bits.
Do we need to organise a box of beer for the farmer?
Big thanks to:
Gremlin for leading Group 1
Maverick for leading Group 2
Gijoe1313 for TEC 1
Donor for TEC 2
jtzzr for TEC 2on the way home
gijoe1313 for lead 2 way home
And thanks to Mav for organising and everyone else for turning up
Cheers.
great ride, sad to hear people have binned it, not a great experience but you sure do learn from it. hope it hasnt scared you off, just get back up and back at it again.
3rd time in 3 weeks i've been out that way to kaiaua. took a little detour when i left the group at clevedon out to maraetai, great scenery out that way
can the next ride be out towards a different direction?? north or west or south would be great :P
Can we please get some details on what happend to those people who binned it? Also how exactly did it happen?
A couple snaps from me showing some bikes

couple of pics from me
great to see the multiplying swarm of hobag gt250's. 4 red, 2 mangos (one being a comet) i counted.
By the way, I thought this was a 250 ride?? Was shocked at all the big guys that turned up
Well, cheers to one and all for turning up - once again, let me express my hope that all bikers are well and nothing too serious. Bikes can be fixed!
Just got home... I think I got another ride in from the BP after having a good natter with Zapf, Gremlin and Leong (a surreal conversation which I scarily understood!)
Sorry for holding anyone up, but our group was taking it's time and pulling over to let (irate) cagers past!. John our TEC did a marvellous job on his Blackbird, as it turns out worked perfectly! He would zip past the fledgings and give me a toot to tell me that we were gumming up the works (70kph will do that on an open road!
)
Great turn-out and kudos to Zapf and all others who stepped up to the plate after the unfortunate series of events. A bit of rain and some confusion over ride routes was not enough to stop most enjoying a bit of nosh at the Kaiaua local chippy! :yes"
Thanks McJim for doing the doubling back to see if I had planted another hondaberry or went for a swim (no fear!) was funny watching him on the duchess splash several cagers as he blatted past them (it throws up a heap of water!)
Righto, guess I better organise one of my classic pootling rides so people can get saddle sore!![]()
"I like to ride anyplace, anywhere, any time, any way!"![]()
Another interesting KB event!! Thanks to Mav, McJim and co for organising. A big turnout, highly variable road conditions, from very clean dry road to wet mossy roads, slips, bit of gravel mid corner in places - that most made it home in one piece was quite commendable.
We did the long route.... Kaiaua loop with a detour to do the Hunua gorge to Papakura. Quite a nice road - Hunua to Papakura, to have to do twice!!
Good to catch up with a few KBers I haven't seen in a while and meet some new faces!!!
