Oh the naivety of it!!!!!!!! I seem to remember not so long ago trying to convince this lot to get to taranaki without stopping and ended up with Meanie and Myself riding alone.

For the wider info. When Meanie and I headed off we never did any excess speeds. We left Ashhurst at 6:55am and arrived in Stratford at 9:01am. Then the detour further north putting us back in Stratford at 10:45 and in Tamuarnui at 12:46. Then Waioru at 2:20. Home at 5:26pm. If you take the easy 1:15 from Waioru then that makes 4pm and take out the northen detour of nearly 2 hours then even with pic stops it shouldnt be later than 5pm. Bet it is alot later than that though.

Absolutely. I'm all for as little stopping as possible. Except for pics, lunch and gas.

Looks like everyone is going to be in a hurry to get around... I haven't doen the FH but I will take everyone's word that it will be an all day occasion with a steady pace and minimal stops....

Looks like I will be ditching the pillion and doing this one solo for now...

Would like to plan an over nighter sometime though so we can all get on the piss lol

This will be the longest I would have attacked on the monster but should be ok.

I guess if the stops we do have to make are kept to a minimum then surely the day won't be too long...

Goodo - it's not a hard ride so no need to turn it into a 24 hour event.

Would you lot be interested in me setting up a barbecue at Whangamomona on that day?
Was thinking it's a cheaper and Faster option for lunch than waiting ages for the pub food when a heap of bikers all roll in together.
You can still grab your beers at the pub then stroll across the road for 'bangers in bread'. Just a donation to help cover costs maybe.
I will sacrifice my 'ride' as a Thankyou to those who supported my racing over the past couple of seasons. Give something back and all that.

Could also bring a Van for 'breakdown recovery' if needed.
Can bring spare fuel for those a bit unsure.

Taranaki crew: Any one got a decent barbecue I could use?

    Just a thought.
    Racey.

That's a helluva awesome offer! Let's see what everyone feels about this. We'd need to be absolutely sure of numbers etc so you didn't end up feeding an army or worse preparing to feed an army and have a half dozen turn up!

Consider a bbq given mate,3 burner, grill & hot plate wooden trolley with wheels, only prob is in Hawera, would be keen on helping as well,if you have room for two passengers, like the idea of numbers for food, mind you if you scout out to Whanga early morning might be good selection of road kill, just tell em the small long items are skinny (organic)chickens.

No one can call you a wuss Sarge with the way you ride

I cant see it be any more gruelling than the ride we did around Taranaki/Owakino george/eight mile/Taumarunui and home, in fact its less distance
You had no probs doing that one, this,l be a walk in the park
I think the important thing is to get to stratford in a reasonable time so we can enjoy the FH as it should be and have plenty of time left to cruise home
Itd be a shame to have you bail when i know you breeze through this
Racey Rider your offer is bloody awesome and id be keen and quite happy to swing you a few bucks to cover costs and yea a recovery vehicle for the hondas would be good

Yeah that sounds like the go, the Whanga pub is perfect for that

BBQ offer: That sounds great man. I live in central NP but don't have a BBQ so can't help out there soz.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
